I hate to leave a bad review for a black owned business, but people should know. I would warn against getting braids done by Emani. My finished wet braids looked fine in the shop. But when I got home I realized each braid had been closed with white flaky glue, that scrapes the skin on my back. It’s embarrassing to look like this. Additionally I paid for long braids with wavy ends and got chin length braids with 70% loose hair. There is no reason why glue should have been used in the first place. Braids should be closed with slip knots. I tried to settle this directly with Emani, but she was unable and unwilling to offer a solution, other than offering a $20 refund on a $300 service. LOVED this place. A huge shout out to Liza for being on it with the coloring of my hair. Exactly what I wanted, also props to her because I've dyed my hair so many times and damn near fried it off but she made it look perf! The entire shop is professional, hospitable, and knowledgeable about different hair textures and styles. Riyah gave me waist-length knotless box braids, and I could not be happier! She answered all of my haircare questions and left me feeling confident that I could maintain this style even as a surfer with heavy sun + ocean exposure.
