I came in for a gel manicure (no extensions), and while the nail tech did a great job cleaning up my nails and making them look nice, the experience as a whole left me frustrated and uncomfortable.
When I went to pay, I noticed I’d been charged $70 — which didn’t make sense, since the posted price for a gel manicure is $40. I realized after walking out that I had been charged for extensions, which I didn’t get (my natural nails are very short — it’s clear I didn’t have tips put on). I went back in and asked about it, and the tech admitted immediately that she’d charged me incorrectly.
That part I can understand — mistakes happen. But instead of correcting it right away, the person at the front desk told me to sit down and wait while she tried to reach the manager. She made a few short calls, sent a text, and then just kind of left me hanging. I had to stand there and (very calmly) insist on speaking with the manager and getting it fixed — which is something I never do, but I wasn’t going to sit down and wait indefinitely after already being overcharged.
Eventually, I was refunded the $30 and the manager texted me a receipt. But the fact that it took that much pushing — when they knew it was their error — really put a damper on the whole experience. I had also tipped 30% before realizing the mistake, and while that was my choice, it felt extra frustrating in hindsight.
Update: After I left this review, the salon reached out, apologized, and refunded the overcharged portion of my tip as well. They explained the mix-up and said they would use the situation as a learning experience. I appreciate that follow-up, and my nails themselves...
Read moreThey will say they can do a design and then not actually have the tools or knowledge to do it, just say you can't. Also they use the drill to remove gel polish and use it was too high to where your nails get badly damage. They cut/filed my nails way shorter than I wanted after i said only a little trim, lost over half my length. Then destroyed and made my nails extremely thin to the point they were thin and bendy and they started getting microtears and breaking off. I care very much about my nail health and devoted time to strengthening them after not taking the best care of them so to have a nail tech have no care over a clients nails, is wild. I will not be going back and would highly recommend people to do some research and go elsewhere. I wasn't originally going to write a review but having a different nail salon question why my nails were so damaged taking off the polish from here really confirmed that it was not just me...
Read moreGo other places this nail salon is not it. Went to this place, with a reservation at 1, yes I was 20 min late but the rest of my people at my party had arrived. They served the person that came in after me before me. I was a little peeved because I had things to do that day and I got out with just a pedicure at 3:10. They didn’t give me a stone massage like what was claimed on their website and when confronted they told me they had and I was confused because it wasn’t a stone massage and they lady touched my feet for like a minute to put on the lotion. They made me still pay full price, after I proved my point and told me that I could just take off my shoes and they could do it for me which was just not something I was willing to do. just don’t go here. There are way better nail places in sf that actually care about their customers and give them the time of day and pay attention to them. I...
