(If I could give a zero star, I would)
I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with my recent experience with the Native Daughters of the Golden West (NDGW) Children’s Foundation. I was referred to your organization as a potential source of aid for my son, who desperately needed hearing aids.
To my bewilderment, our health insurance does not cover the cost of hearing aids, which I find unacceptable (another topic in its entirety). After navigating the lengthy application process, we were informed that we were ineligible for assistance simply because we had already purchased the hearing aids out of pocket, at a substantial expense that ran into thousands of dollars.
This response from your Case Manager—indicating that our proactive decision to secure the necessary aids for our son disqualified us—feels not only unhelpful but also deeply disheartening. The urgency of my son's needs should have taken precedence over formalities and protocols.
I am left with a sense of sadness and frustration regarding the NDGW Children's Foundation’s lack of empathy in addressing our critical situation. This experience has not only been disappointing but has also made me regret the referral to your organization.
I hope you will take this feedback to heart and reconsider how such cases are handled...

We had the problem solved by taking CalTrain to San Francisco then taking our riding our bicycles to the building. But the Home Committee has decreed that bicycles can't be brought into the building. Their excuse is that the insurance prohibits bicycles. Ha, that's the only building in San Francisco that doesn't allow bikes. Plus, the cost to stay there has gone up so high (it's doubled in the past 10 years) that it's less hassle to just go to another full service hotel. And to add insult to injury, all members have just had an increase in the "per capita" paid for maintaining the Home to $10. Nope, not the place to stay in San Francisco for me...
