Sophia's Beauty Lounge — Local services in San Francisco

In my search for a great nail salon in SF, I ended up at Sophia’s Beauty Lounge, a nail salon with an impressive 4.7 rating on google! To start, the place is super clean and staff are incredibly friendly, which the reason for two star rating instead of one. I was able to schedule a same day appointment for a gel manicure and regular pedicure (totaling $89 + tip). Instead of simultaneously providing these services, so I would only be in the salon for one hour, it took 2.5 hours because three different people were providing the services. My pedicure was mediocre (I asked for nails to be cut, they were filed, I mentioned pain in the large toes and nothing was done to address this). The massage which was less than 2 minutes per leg/foot and for some reason the initial coat of Polish was not to the cuticle (subsequent coats were), so the final result is a weird shadow/bump on each toe. As far as my nails, the gel was not properly removed resulting in a wavy texture on some nails. I personally had to file many nails later that night since they were not consistently shaped (photo shows after) and this is in addition to the fact that again, the gel was not painted to the cuticle so it looks like it is over a week old although it had just been done. I wasn’t able to bring this to the attention of the manager, as I was running late to a dinner (I had expected to be there less than half the time), but I did complete their survey and provided this information- no response, crickets. This is my go-to place for my regular mani/pedis, gel mani/pedis, and waxing needs! The staff here are awesome and always do a great job. Sometimes I'm stumped with what color combos to go with for certain outfits and the staff always come up with great suggestions. I mostly have Lin, Sophia, and Wing as my technicians when I head over but everyone I interact with is friendly and competent. They also have so many colors for regular, gel, and dip powder polish.

The space is relaxing and pretty huge from the inside so there's no claustrophobic or crowded feeling you get from other salons. It's also an easy location to access from the 24th BART station. For the price paid and the quality of the nails I’m never coming back it’s only been 2 days and my gel mani is chipping on several fingers. I paid over 130$ for a basic gel and mani pedi they are highly over priced and it’s not a comfortable atmosphere chairs are very low to the ground and they do not have massage chairs they constantly tell you we don’t have enough time. We don’t have enough time so for the price I paid feeling rushed and uncomfortable I do not recommend this shop. When getting this service if your expecting a relaxing experience this is not it.
