I visited Friday 12 August with some friends. I tried the Brisket Burger, Cornbread and a side of Collard Greens. I tried my friends' Brisket, French Fries, Pork Ribs, and an off menu Pork (pulled) and Beans. We all had the Bread Pudding for desert. First off, the service was outstanding! We were warmly greeted at the door, seated immediately and had a frosty beverage instantly. Stefan made tasty suggestions and accurately took our order after seating us. The entrees arrived much sooner than expected and enticed with their aromatics... Yes, I could smell the smoke and the meat. The Cornbread has a delish flavor, but it's texture ramps up with each bite; it's creaminess plays well with the whole corn kernels. My Brisket Burger came topped with well-cooked red onions; this was the canvas I tried the house-made sauces on. The triple pepper sauce had enough fire but not too much and complimented the sweet sauce; their special sauce was my favorite with the burger because of how it brought out a pleasant little something. The Collard Greens were cooked with onions and cherry tomatoes and satisfied my desire for a dark green, leafy vegetable. No matter how delicious the Brisket Burger was (and it was yummy), the main attraction here IMO are the Pork Ribs. The flavor is about half meat and half smoke with tantalizing spices (dry rub?). Salt levels are to my liking, which is to say that I did not notice the salt, YMMV. The meat is tender and NOT greasy. I sampled my Pork Rib with the 3 pepper sauce alone and felt rapturous joy on my palate - phenomenal in every respect! I next tried a slice of Brisket with the Special Sauce. OMG, I couldn't decide if I liked the Pork Ribs more or not! The Brisket had a very thin layer of fat on the top edge; I couldn't tell it was there when in my mouth, and like the ribs, the seasoning was spot on. I'm a fan of the smoky aroma and flavor, and therefore I'm a fan of the meat served here. The Bread Pudding is not sweet, has a texture and flavor similar to crème brûlée; the differences are that the crispiness comes from the bread and the sweetness comes from the whiskey-soaked raisins, and like all other items sampled is excellent.

Read moreBeing from Austin, TX, I know good BBQ—and I’ll admit, I was skeptical about trying it away from home. But the craving hit hard, so I ordered ¼ lb pulled pork, ½ lb brisket, the Texas beef rib, and their mac & cheese. Everything was delicious!
The brisket stole the show: smoky, flavorful, and so tender I regretted not ordering a full pound. The Texas beef rib was a fun adventure—huge, meaty, and nicely smoked. I don’t usually eat beef ribs back home, but the Texan in me had to try it. Leftovers even made the perfect breakfast with eggs.
Pulled pork was flavorful and juicy—I skipped the sandwich so I could taste the meat on its own. (Pro tip: it’s just as good the next day in a quick sandwich.) And the mac & cheese? Creamy, cheesy perfection; true to the South. It could have been my #1, but I didn’t want to overshadow the BBQ. Leftovers from this meal fed me two more times—I basically walked out feeling like I got away with a steal.
A special shoutout to Jackie, the manager that night. She had the kind of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. She even indulged my Texan request for pickles with my BBQ (no judgment here!) and walked me through their sauces—each one worth trying, especially if you mix them for fun flavor combos.
Bottom line: I’ll be back. Next time I’ll try more of their menu (and fingers crossed for peach cobbler!). If you’re anywhere nearby, it’s worth the trip. They blend Southern BBQ beautifully—and yes, this Texas girl gives it a thumbs up.
Also, the atmosphere/ambiance of the restaurant is through and through a...
Read moreWe went today for my dad's birthday as he wanted to support his friends who were going to be playing music outdoors. We got there and most tables outside where already taken so, we went inside to ask if could sit outside. I'm not going to lie the waiter was nice but we explained there was a table outside but no chairs if it was possible to get some chairs to be outside. She proceeded to ask the manager or owner not sure he told her that they were not able to put more chairs and proceeded to tell us that if we wanted to stay to ask ourselves to other tables for the chairs which it was a little off as there were plenty of chair inside but leaving that aside why should we ask other people for chairs as if we weren't the customers in the situation. My parents don't understand English as much but they also feel that it was a bit off for them to ask us to do that. Overall it just not a good vibe if you are POC, I wouldn't recommend you to eat here. The band my dad wanted to go and support were supposed to be playing Spanish rock but we weren't able to stay as we just received weird stares from the people inside the restaurant. At the end we have to go and eat somewhere else as it was still his birthday and we wanted him to have...
