We needed my daughter passport for urgent travel. The 1-877# was not very helpful. They offered me an appointment in El paso texas because they didn't have any in SF. Her travel date is less than a week. I said no, I'll keep calling until I find an appointment. I called as early as 5am, 6am, 7:15am and thats when they offered a same day appointment because someone canceled. Be patient and keep calling until you get your appointment. Be sure to already have all documents, pictures, etc ready because these appointment are last minute. We arrived at 8:15am and didn't enter the passport agency until 8:30 and we reached the checking in window at 9:30am. We got a number and sat down until 11am. We needed passports for our two children. I called and received an appointment two weeks later. We showed up with all the necessary documents and received our passports that same day. In order to get a rush passport you must be traveling within two weeks of your appointment date. We got to our appointment at 930, it took approx 2 hrs to process all of the information. Called 14 days ahead and got an appointment exactly 24 hours before my flight. Needed first passport for my son and a renewal for mine. Appointment was at 11 and picked up both pasports by 4pm.
