It is such a great pleasure to review my countlesss healing experiences at Denny Eye and Laser Center in San Francisco.When I had or have had eyecare iproblems or issues, they have always been examined, diagnosed, addressed and solved thoughtfully and kindly. I always feel listened to and cared about. In 2017, I was fortunate enough to undergo incredibly successful cateract surgery with Dr. Kevin Denny, the longterm chair of the department of Opthalmology of CPMC hospital.Because of his brillant expertise and skill, I am able to see perfectly without glasses for the first time in 30 years. The surgery was easy and exacly as described. The astigmatic and multifocal lenses that replaced my 71 year old lens continue to thrill me. Part of my aging process has involved dry eyes which have been expertly controlled over the past four years with plugs, eye drops amd daily eye compresses. However during a particularly stressful pandemic period, I was beset with extremely bloodshot eyes, an irritatiing feeling of sand granules and diminished vision. I had developed Meibomian Gland Disorder which has been expertly diagnosed by Dr. Mattew Denny, the newest star in the Denny Eye and Laser Center constellation. MGD, an autoimmune disease which involves clogged oil glands needed aggressive treatment of steroid drops, oral antibiotics, additional drops and compresses as well as Tearcare, a customized treatment to clean out the blocked oil glands. After researching Tearcare, I elected to have Dr. Deanna Nguyen, one of the capable and excellent opthalmologists who has treated me on a regular basis at Denny Eye Care numerous times. She is always extremely thorough, kind , precise gentle and outstanding at explaining each step of any treatment she initiates.The Tearcare procedure requires an opthalmologist to express the oil from the tear glands manually after the eyelids have been heated up with pads inserted inside.I have and had total confidence in Dr. Deanna Nguyen's knowledge and experience as well as her gentle touch. I knew that i would be and was in excellent hands. The treatment was pratically painless and I began to see and feel a subtle difference in the first week. I left the country for Europe and the East Coast after a regimen on all the drops, compresses, oral antibiotics and lash cleaners. When I returned six weeks later to Dr Nguyen, my normal vision had returned, my eye were no longer bloodshot, my eyes were painfree and I was able to get my six months dry eye plugs installed. I am so grateful to have received such miraculous care, such excellent professional treatment and cure of the dreadful Meibomian Gland Disorder. Dr. Denny has impeccable credentials and experience. His knowledge, leadership ability and interpersonal skills are at the highest levels. As Chair of the CPMC Department of Ophthalmology, he has earned and been honored by the highest level of respect and confidence of his colleagues and hospital staff. His ongoing work to provide ophthalmology services in Guatemala for over 30 years is absolutely wonderful. He continues to work with Guatemalan physicians to further enhance their expertise.

I was also examined by Ryan Ngo, OD, a superb optometrist. His expertise and ability to fully articulate very complex issues with my condition are so important to me. For the first time in my 77 years, I now understand the evolution of my condition over so many years.

I have never experienced such a well-orchestrated team in a high-end physician practice. A team of several ophthalmologists, optometrists, technical staff, opticians, and administrative staff. Each person I worked with over my two hour appointment was very kind, efficient and professional.

I love the true excellence and efficiency of care. By including optometrists and technicians, Dr. Denny has placed himself and team members in the perfect and coordinated positions to create a flawless flow of information essential to the highest quality care and patient experience.

As a former hospital executive for my entire career, I have rarely witnessed such a well-managed and high-level physician practice.

I would also like to state that Dr. Denny is not only very knowledgeable, competent and thoughtful, but has tremendous interest in communicating so directly and in such a caring way. He is very patient and spent significant time in allowing me to understand more than I ever have about the important details and concerns about my condition. Although I am healthy, he will be monitoring several parameters in a very precise manner utilizing very sophisticated technology.

From the moment I entered the office I felt completely at ease. Still suffering from headaches, the entire staff was aware of my discomfort and took wonderful care of me.
