First impressions are everything!
While the owners of Best Price are welcoming and eager to help, buyers should beware of their unfair business practices. I received a $4,000 grant for furniture and was directed to Best Price to make my selection. However, I noticed that none of the items on the showroom floor had price tags, allowing the business to set arbitrary prices. Since they were the only local vendor I could use, I chose a four-piece full-size bedroom set, a couch and loveseat, and a seven-piece dinette set, totaling $4,000.
Upon researching online, I discovered that Living Spaces offered the same bedroom set, but in a queen size, for $200 less. I called Best Price to see if they would match the price, but they refused, so I canceled the bedroom set order. A week later, the remaining furniture was delivered. Unfortunately, the wrong sofa was sent, and the dining table was damaged inside the box. I called Best Price and was advised to have the delivery men return the incorrect sofa and defective table.
Later, I received a call informing me that the sofa was out of stock with no clear restock date, so I decided to cancel the entire order. Shortly after, Best Price called back to say they had located the sofa and that both the sofa and a new dining table would be delivered the next business day. When the drivers arrived, they unboxed the sofa and assembled it. However, the dining table was not new; it appeared to be the display model.
I immediately called Best Price and spoke to Lin, who had sold me the furniture. She claimed they had taken the table out of the box to ensure it wasn't damaged. When I wiped the table, I found it dirty with several scratches and nicks, confirming my suspicion that it was the floor model. I went back to the store and saw that the floor model was no longer there; it was now in my dining room. I showed the store owner the defects and informed him that I received the display model, despite Lin's claims over the phone. He assured me a new table was ordered and blamed the manufacturer for the mishap.
I told him that I didn’t receive a new table; instead, I got the floor model, and Best Price had been dishonest about it. I demanded the defective table be picked up. The owner called the delivery driver on speakerphone, who confirmed my suspicions by asking, "Did she not want the floor model?" This was clear evidence that I had been deceived. The owner then ordered a new table and promised it would be delivered within four business days.
Best Price has engaged in unfair business practices and exploitation of low-income families trying their best to overcome homelessness and the unaffordability of housing in the Bay Area. Buyers should be cautious and aware of the potential for dishonesty and exploitation when dealing with this business.
UPDATE: The 2 piece leather sofa set is not as described. I was told it was part leather and the areas not used for seating (i.e. back of sofa) was man made material. The entire sofa is faux leather and is cheaply made. I am saving to buy a new set. The one I have is already showing signs that it won’t last llong.
I do not recommend this business. Turns out Living Spaces does participate and has special pricing for participants of the housing program. I strongly urge customers...
