H-E-B — Local services in San Marcos

I used to live right next door to “the big” H‑E‑B in town and the only trouble I had was constantly being watched when I was in store/checked out at the self check out area which made me get all my stuff delivered. I now live 5 mins next to the “little” H E‑B near campus and this is what they are selling on sale.. smh

Update: Went here again and went to the self checkout. There were three people there already. I saw the person (who I later found out is a manager. White woman blonde hair about 5’9 thick build) there and she was at the the self checkout right next to me. I did this on purpose to see if she was gonna get behind me. She saw me then moved directly behind me. I needed help and she was staring at me. Keep in mind there were now two other white men there who she was now ignoring just to watch me. I got my stuff and left. I turned back to see if she did the same thing to the other 2 white men who were there but she didnt. I knew this would happen and wanted to have someone check out my goods but I couldn’t because there was only one person open with 4 people waiting. This happens to me every time. I called to tell a manager but she was the manager and denied everything. I guess I’ll go back to getting all my stuff delivered.

This is the smallest HEB in town, and I really love it because you can find almost everything that you need there. They offer a variety of vegetables and some bakery-made stuff that other HEBs offer. I'll be honest about this, and of course they don't have everything like the big HEBs have, but they have plenty of their own things, and I think that to survive, they can provide everything that you need. If H-E-B does not provide you with something, maybe you do not need that specific product to survive.

I remember the first year I moved to San Marcos, which was in 2021, and I lived right beside this HEB at Sanctuary Lofts, and I never had to go anywhere else for any of my daily stuff that I needed. not to do another big HEB, and if I could not find something at this store, I knew that I could survive without it. I never tried to go and find it in Walmart, Walgreens, or other stores because they were not that important.

The point I'm trying to make is that they have a really cool choice of products. That's why I never felt like I was missing something that was life-saving or that I really needed to survive, and that's why this one HEB product practically solved all the demands I had...

First: my low review is not for anyone that works here as a cashier or floor , they are all lovely ; it’s for whoever is in in-charge over the supply, inventory, and ordering for this location — likely something blocked by senior management.

This location is always out of essentials. So far there have been days where I’ve seen little to no milk, water, coffee, broth, salad greens, popcorn, and more. Almost every week something is completely out of stock and it really gives somewhat of an apocalypse vibe. It’s just not possible to be out of those commodity items.

The location does not cater to the demand of the area, the historic neighborhood, the university, south San Marcos, wimberly …. We are being under-served.

Lastly, there are almost no organic or healthy options available. The store seems to focus on chips, lunch meat, and white bread. Where’s the sourdough , the arugula, the seasonal fruits and veggies? Have to go to Austin or San Antonio to get anything good.

I believe in you HEB! Make...
