DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse — Local services in San Mateo

Store is clean and the staff are quite helpful.

But here is why I am writing this review .

I took about 30 minutes pickling our three pairs of shoes then got in line to purchase them. There were 3-4 people in line with two cashiers and they were doing their thing and soon enough I was next.

Then just before I get called up to pay the cashier sees the lady who sidled up to the returns area at the end of the register row. The cashier asks if she can help his lady. The lady asks yes if she could check on a size for the pair of shoes she had in her hand.

The conversation went along the lines of “oh we don’t have that but you can order it online”. And I though this was over along with the other 3-4 people that had now gathered behind me.

But no the cashier then begins to take the order!

I mean I have had to do the same thing and order stuff through them onsite via their online system but I stood in line like everyone else.

Yeah the customer was rude but the cashier made a business decision to take her over the next person in line.

I then promptly placed my three pair of shoes on the counter and left.

The cashier asked what was wrong and I simply said “ I was next but the you took that lady next, I will go to another store for my purchases as I vote with my dollar “

Again it was minor but it irked me and I decided to not reward this bad behavior...

Shoes are amazing, I've bought a few from this store. But the customer service I received today was rude and disrespectful. I kept getting stared at by 2 female and male employees not doing their job and just walking around the store. The same male employee had laughed at me a couple days prior because I had tried opening the door to the store at around 8:00pm(google and their website said they closed at 9:00pm) and instead of telling me that the store was closed he proceeded to stare and laugh at me. Today the cashier, Mikayla, was very rude. We had asked about a gift card deal we were interested in, after asking she proceeded to give us more attitude, be aggressive, and be very unhelpful, this gift card deal had ended up being not available until later but was still being promoted. Mikayla had not informed us about this because we had figured it out by reading the small print on the promotion poster. When we brought it up to Mikayla she had proceeded to say in a rude tone "well we don't know anything about that". Before we brought it to her attention though mikayla completely discarded us and decided to help out other customers without informing us of...

Usually I love the place and the great many shoes. But first of all I didn't like the changes they made switching the men's with the ladies shoes position. And the dress shoes are now upstairs for women., All workout related footwear downstairs. And right under the escalator for the women. Didnt make for a comfy shopping experience. On top of that, there werent to many new designs, which is understandable though! But the men's sure got a whole lot more attention!? But ok. Also there wasn't any sales person available, to assist me in getting my size and the other pair of shoe that they keep on high ticket items. And last but not least, they where out of the most common size 8 to 9 shoe on most wearables. Only 5s, 6s, 12 and 13... I was a bit disappointed, but still found some cute leather boots on sale. ( little tight, had to settle for half a size...
