I have been coming to Mountain Yoga Sandy off & on since my dad introduced me to the idea of hot yoga in middle school (so for over 10 years!) - Mountain Yoga is my studio of choice & the one I keep returning back to because of the caliber of classes offered, the loving, kind energy of the staff, and the inclusive environment. During the pandemic they expanded their offerings to virtual & on-demand classes, and I appreciate they still offer these even as things are opening up (attached photo is of me streaming a live class from home) Mats are currently still spaced in-studio which I appreciate to promote social distancing. The workshops offered are a great way to deepen your practice or to gain an understanding of something new as well.

I've been coming to this yoga studio for about a year now and I highly recommend it! The culture here at the studio is supportive and uplifting, the teachers are friendly and very knowledgeable, the staff will always great you with a smile, and as a whole, they've really built up a community feeling at this studio. There are 5 different types of yoga classes that they offer (heated and non heated), along with non yoga classes (barre, pilates, Qigong). All levels of practice can attend any class (even in the most advanced classes, the teachers will show modifications that beginners can perform). This truly is a place where you can learn and grow your practice.

I first went to Mountain Yoga about 5 years ago and I had a great time. I stopped for a good long while but came back 5 weeks ago. Every day I’m in town, I start my days at the studio at their 6:00 stretching classes. We work with different instructors each day and, man, right now - I could not even imagine my life without Mountain Yoga. LOVE it.

I had gotten a small taste of the MANY benefits yoga in general has to offer through a work sponsored program (pre-pandemic). I was interested in pursuing a yoga practice further and outside of the work environment but was involved heavily with other activities and didn't feel like I had the time. My other activities led to a rather brutal ankle injury with a VERY lengthy recovery time, both for my body and my mind. A massage therapist had recommended Mountain Yoga to me and I made sure to "make note" of the recommendation but didn't act on it right away. Some time later at an all time personal low, with life in general just giving me the business ... I found myself in dire need of an outlet. It was then that I found my courage to try something new and signed up for a trial membership at Mountain Yoga Sandy. I dove in head first for that trial, making sure to try out all of the various class offerings with as many different instructors as I possibly could. I knew after my first class I had found the place for me and that feeling was amplified with each class I took thereafter. (The infrared sauna is also truly incredible... just sayin.) I've been a regular fixture at the studio for 3 months now and simply cannot fathom the circumstances that would lead that to change. Mountain Yoga is my sanctuary and has given me just sooo much in this short time. I truly lost count but have had the privilege to take classes (and-or workshops) from over a dozen incredible instructors (and counting). ALL of whom are warm, welcoming, genuinely caring individuals who guide your practice to be what YOU need it to be. Yoga at Mountain, thanks to these instructors, will meet you where you're at and there aren't quite words to say how grateful/ thankful I am for it. Having never done yoga in the heat, I was somewhat nervous about that aspect going in but like many others have said, I kinda can't imagine doing yoga without it now. (That said, their non-heated classes are just as excellent if the heat really isn't for you ;) ) There had been moments in my life before Mountain Yoga where I had felt comfortable-ish with my body OR with my mind, but never BOTH at the same time and never for an extended period of time. One of the greatest gifts Mountain Yoga has given me is just that - the space on my mat to be present and to find true peace, acceptance, and love for both my body and my mind at once and as they are, in a way that feels sustainable for the long-term. In this world of chaos, I am so grateful for my place on my mat at this studio with these incredible instructors. I'm definitely an introvert by nature and quite shy so the notion of doing something new with so many other strangers also made me nervous. I've found it truly incredible how this is simply just a non-issue, even for someone like me. EVERYONE at the studio, the staff, the instructors, and all the yogi's have been so warm, kind, and supportive. In a FULL class, you sort of forget all of the individuals around you are even there while still feeling the collective, supportive energy of the room. 5 little stars doesn't quite do Mountain Yoga justice in this...

I've been coming to Mountain Yoga off and on for over five years. I started when pregnant with my second child and couldn't find a prenatal yoga studio. Not only did the person I talk to say that every instructor could help me modify poses to fit my body while pregnant but they offered kid care during class a few classes a week. So not only could I go to yoga, but I didn't have to figure out what to do with my older child (and there was no TV in the kid room which I found to be a big turn off with the local gym). The classes were heated though and I'd never done heated. Turned out, I loved my first class and started coming twice a week until the day before my son was born. Every instructor was great about explaining how to modify a pose if there was one I wasn't familiar with.

I got back to regular yoga practice two years ago and love it. I love how the heat warms up my muscles and there are all levels of energy depending one which instructor is teaching or the class. They have classes that get you comfortable with yoga, some that will really push your heart rate and some that will stretch out already tired muscles for other activities (excellent class in the summer if you're really active outside). I haven't had a single instructor that has offered me some sort of positive learning experience. Whether that is slowing down to make me focus on engaging my muscles or the class that wants to just kick my butt my giving me a fast-paced flow through poses. Your athletic level doesn't matter here. There is no one judging and everyone else is there to get the most out of the class that fits their needs. I've never walked away from a class feeling like I was less or that I'd never get such and such pose right. I still struggle with so many poses but I've never had an instructor make me feel like I can't get there eventually. And my core muscles are so much stronger then when I started.

Mountain Yoga is more then just a place I exercise, it's a community. Regular students and instructors there are welcoming and ready to help out in any way they can to help each person have a great yoga experience.

When the studio closed for a bit due to covid-19, they were quick to start offering virtual classes and now on demand classes for when a virtual class doesn't work of you. The on demand classes are great but I really miss the community that even the virtual classes have on offer. They currently have both on demand, virtual and in person. I haven't done in person yet again but I'm sure those are still awesome. I do love the virtual classes and the fact that if I have a question there is someone on the other side of the screen that can answer it before or after class still. I love still feeling the energy from the instructor and that even when we're in different homes/states, the movement is...

My sister recommended Mountain Yoga after talking to her about my desire to start a regular yoga routine. I have been coming to your studio for about a month and cannot express the level of positive change I have seen in myself already. And it’s only been a month. You’ve really created a warm and welcoming environment with such amazing energy. Each one of your staff members are incredible and are a huge part of the good vibes your place emanates. I instantly felt like I belonged.

I actually meant to tell you while I was there that I appreciate the instructors attentiveness to postures among us students. I’m not sure how others feel about being corrected during the class but I’ll take all I can get. I know good form is hard to achieve initially, but without being told where I can do better, it will take longer than it needs to. I intend on this becoming a long term practice And would like to progress in every way possible.

Also, I’m extremely happy that you offer a Qi Gong class. I’ve been attending for a few weeks now. Toni is so awesome. It’s another practice I’ve always wanted to try but never allowed myself the time or space to pursue it. But now I am. And that is so cool.

So much gratitude for you, each one of your staff, and your wonderful studio!

So...
