This park is a bit odd in that it consists of two large baseball diamonds and a play area for small children in the northwest corner and a smaller, sloped grassy area near the Sandy Amphitheater with play equipment for bigger kids in the northeast corner. In between them is a long, sloped asphalt path that connects the two open spaces.
This bike/jogging path is probably the best way to get from the 10th East 8600 South intersection to13th East and 9400 South on a bicycle. The multi-use path rises gradually along a gurgling stream (in the spring) around a couple hundred feet in elevation as you travel West to East on the northern leg of the backwards and upside-down "L" shape the path forms on a map. There is also a steeply-sloped concrete "switchback" path leading from the midway point in the path down to the condominium complex below which is suitable only for pedestrians.
The view at sunset from the eastern leg of the bike path is sublime, as the entire southern part of the Salt Lake Valley is laid before you and bathed in the pinks and purples of the waning light... It's also probably the easiest way for the big box stores below to check if there are any problems...
Read moreThe splash pad in the summer is always a great destination spot. It's fairly well shaded and can get busy. There's benches and a couple picnic tables to sit at which is nice. It's clean and well maintained with garbage cans around. My only complaint about this area is it has a big cement step (maybe 8-10 inches high) around the water area and gets REALLY slippery for kids.
In the Summer months they host a food truck night and that's usually packed. They also host other events that are neat to check out.
I love that there is a glass recycling drop off here. The concerts are great here and well done. The view is absolutely spectacular, especially at sunset.
The playground area here is small and only has a couple things for climbing, that's it; no slide, swings or other...
Read moreI had absolutely no idea this little gem existed! I have seen the Sandy Amphitheater and attended things pre-COVID, but I never realized this cute little park is tucked in the northwest corner of the amphitheater. You enter the space in a little driveway just west of the Sandy Amphitheater off of 9400 S or a little driveway just north of the Senior Center of off 1300 E. There is a nice little water play area as well as some green space overlooking the valley. It's definitely a small space, so don't expect to play some serious sports here, but it's a really nice park to just have some chill time or do a couple of loops to get some cardio.
Bonus!: Mondays during the summer the Food Truck League has food trucks that rotate...
