What happened to this place? I've been here twice to the Riverton location with my family in the past two months, and these recent experiences pale in comparison to how Rock Creek Pizza used to be. It USED to be good. It USED to be packed with people at dinner time. The past 2 times in a row, there were hardly any people eating, even with the "Kids Eat Free" on Mondays and Tuesdays offer. The past two times, our visits have consisted of long wait times at the cashier upon entering the eatery. The most recent time we stood in line for nearly 15 minutes just to pay for the buffet, even though only 3 other people were in line ahead of us. Why? I overhead one gal in front of us asking why her call-in order wasn't ready for pick-up. They'd forgotten to make her order. WOW. She sat and waited for nearly 20 minutes while they made it for her. Why bother calling ahead then? The dining area had a number of tables which were still cluttered with dirty plates, cups, uneaten food, etc., yet the place was nearly empty of customers. Yuck! The quality of the pizza has declined. When we got to the buffet offerings, there were only a few pizzas out to choose from. They weren't putting fresh pizzas out and filling up their buffet serving area, and this was at 6 PM when one would expect a big crowd for dinner. The salad bad quality has declined. I used to love getting a big, fresh salad from here before I delved into the pizza. After our most recent visit, not anymore. Wilted lettuce isn't appetizing. Something has obviously changed here at Rock Creek Pizza in the recent past. I'm not sure what it is, but it's not for the better. Even with 2 of our kids eating free (drinks NOT included with that) with 2 paying adults, we shelled out close to $40.00 to eat the buffet. Our family has decided not to return. It's just not worth if for the prices they are charging. Looks like Mountain Mike's in South Jordan will be our go-to pizza buffet place from now on. Bye, Rock...
Read moreWe recently moved to the area and I was looking forward to taking my kids to try it. Needless to say we were very disappointed and will not go back.
First, what was good. They have their own root beer and it was very good. We also enjoyed both dessert pizzas; oreo and cinnamon.
Unfortunately that was the extent of what we enjoyed. I stress "we" because my son was with me who pretty much would live off of pizza if he was allowed. He didn't like it and his sister even said the schools pizza was better.
Now I will say that they are remodeling so I respect that and won't allow that to play in to my overall opinion. Cleanliness wise, the tables were not clean and had grease spots on them. One table someone had spilled their soda on the floor and the customer put napkins down to attempt to soak it up. When the busboy cleaned the table (with a filthy brownish towel), he just left bypassed it and left it on the floor. Ohz and the busboy could have used a belt so the families around him didn't have to look at his underwear as we were eating.
The food, well for three of us it was $34, two adults, 1 child buffet and 3 drinks. If this was Pizza Pie cafe I would have been fine with that but it wasn't. The pizza selection was sparse with literally about 4 choices. Oh and mind you this was 630pm on a Friday night. The pizza was cut into incredibly small pieces that wouldn't even feed a child. Maybe an attempt to feed more people since they didn't have a large selection? The pizzas were all cold. I'm not normally one to complain if my foods not super hot, but this was literally cold. In fact, some of the pizzas weren't even under heat lamps. I would think the health inspector would see a problem with that. I can't speak for the salad bar but from the looks of it there was a nice selection. I don't know if it was cold or fresh as we...
Read moreThe pizza is super yummy! However, the customer service and wait time for the pizza are the reason we will never go back. We have ordered on line for a specific pick up time twice. The first time we went to pick up our pizza at our designated pick up time we had to wait an additional 20 minutes. We wanted to give it another try since we understand things can happen sometimes. Unfortunately the next time was worse. We arrived at our pick up time and were told it would be another 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes we asked for an update on our order and they said it would be an additional 20 minutes. By the time we got the pizza it was 45 minutes past our pick up time. I don't understand the point of placing an order on line with a designated pick up time if the pizza won't be ready by the pick up time. Had we known we would be waiting in the lobby an additional 45 minutes to get our pizza we would have opted to go somewhere else. Why would they tell us 20 minutes when it was very apparent that they hadn't even started our order. While we waited in the lobby 3 other people were in the same predicament. One lady had to wait an additional 20 minutes on top of her on line pick up time, one door dash driver was told his order would be 20 minutes and after the 20 minutes they told him an additional 12 minutes so he threw his hands up and left. Another door dash driver waited so long he actually fell asleep waiting! I was not impressed. Waiting in the lobby was very telling. We saw many people come into the restaurant go to the kitchen, visit with the employees, bring them food, talk with them at the register etc. etc. There was no concern for the customers waiting for their food. No urgency at all! It was the weirdest experience I have ever had picking up food. I can get past something one but twice...
