HORRIBLE customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Young African American girl was working in shop when my husband and I came in to buy sandals. we found ONE pair his size that he liked. We took them to the counter to pay and the young lady was attempting to take off the sensor which was not put in a great spot and she was having to use a pair of pliers to break it apart... no joke. She stopped trying to remove the sensor and wanted us to pay and when I told her I wanted to see the sandals condition after sensor was removed before paying. She then down the sandal and walked away to the area where the sandals were located without saying a word! We were lost, I walked up to her and asked her what she was doing and she said getting another sandal since I did not trust her. I reached out to touch her arm in a kind way to say it was not her I did not trust that the sensor placement was not her fault but I did not want to pay to only return them immediately if they got damaged in the attempt to remove the sensor. And I knew that this was the only pair, believe me we looked. She snapped at me "do not touch me" in a very loud voice, stormed back to the counter as if I had hit her!! Needless to say we left and will never return to the store. I have made several attempts to call the store and the phone listed has a nonsense like vm so I am not confident it is the correct number. I would hope the owner would like to know about this incident but I did my part.... But I do recommend steering clear, there are so many other very friendly shops that would appreciate the business and will actually be nice and professional. Shame this area is such a great place, to have an employee like this is a mark on this shop, which is unfair to everyone involved. WARNING: Surfstyle "Sunglasses" they sell DO NOT have UVA or UVB protection! They WILL PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR EYES if worn outdoors. Woman would not allow me to exchange them so I just left them at the store. Not all polarized "sunglasses" are uv protected. Sunglasses that lack necessary UV-blocking lenses will cause your pupils to dilate. This increases the amount of harmful solar radiation your eyes are exposed to, increasing your risk of developing eye conditions like cataracts, retinal tissue damage and macular degeneration. The receipt says that unopened items may be exchanged within 7 days. It was not even an hour after purchasing that I came back and was told no exchanges. The "sunglasses" had the tag on and I hadn't even worn them. left the product there. Usually when I have company I recommend this store because I like to support local businesses, but I will never do that again. Not that upset about the $26.61 I lost, but I am upset they are misleading people. This is your basic run-of-the-mill surf store. There is nothing really unique in this store other than the occasional shirt that says Sanibel island on it. The staff in here is for the most part completely rude and treats everybody as if you were a thief. Most of the younger folks that work here are very pleasant however the older ones are very stereotypical crotchety old folks. They constantly hover around you and when you ask for something they treat you like a degenerate. I end up coming here almost every year because it's right along the main drag of periwinkle way, but I always get the same experience. if the store would just simply hire better workers I would spend more money here but I am usually so annoyed and frustrated by the time I have what I'm looking for I put it back and go and find it somewhere else. You need better staff! the customer is always right does not apply here, I can tell the worker exactly the size I am looking for and they will explain to me in six different paragraphs...
