I was super excited to go down to the showroom after visiting their website. All set to see in-person the sectional I had in mind to purchase. I walked into the design ctr, listened to Michael, the manager and a young lady talk, while I was ignored for what feels like a lifetime. While browsing the beautiful selection of sectionals I was finally recognized by the manager and assisted. I couldn't help but think an all too familiar experience that my brown skin again didnt matter or wasn't warranted or deserved to be service. Did we learn anything last year? I have to admit the manager was extremely nice, but 10 minutes too late, and Michael passed by me not even a good morning, hello, welcome to the design ctr. Rude!! Never would I spend a dime here. But now after reading other reviews maybe it's not a color thing at all, sounds like Michael is just RUDE, and no customer service experience. He...
Read moreMy first experience with Michael was in his State Street store. I had been looking for a Persian rug for a couple of years in all the 'name' places but there was nothing interesting that spoke to me. Within five minutes of looking at Michael's rugs I had fallen in love with one. None-the-less, Michael walked me around looking at a huge range of rugs, new and very old. I bought that first one on the spot. I have since bought two more and numerous pieces of furniture from his Santa Barbara Design Center. His store is packed with one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture and accessories and he still has dozens of amazing rugs, both Persian and contemporary. There is also a superb staff of 'utterly no pressure' and great coffee made just for you. If you like personal attention and finding treasures, the lower Olive Street store is worth the trip ... and besides, it's a great neighborhood near...
Read moreRecently I was seeking a referral to a qualified and knowledgeable design professional who could assist with antique and Oriental rugs. The name I was given by two Santa Barbara contacts in the design space was that of Michael Kourosh. Michael did not disappoint! He has been steeped in the history, traditions and beauty of these rugs since childhood. He easily and patiently imparts information and details regarding the makers and the craft of these cherished pieces; you develop an even greater appreciation of the discipline and the skill woven into each rug. If you ever watch his television show, “Design Santa Barbara” you will get a glimpse of Michael’s expertise in assessing and evaluating these distinctive textiles – and he is very approachable and helpful in person as the owner of the Santa Barbara...
