Just came back from a lovely stay at Palihouse Santa Barbara. We live in LA but due to the fires the air quality has been terrible so looking to get away from the weekend to walk around and relax. Here are my thoughts: 1) Room. We got the Deluxe King and it was huge. There was a little private balcony, a cute bar station, tub and shower, central AC/heating for the room and my favorite- the fireplace. The fireplace we loved cause it kept the warm room during the winter night. 2) Bed. Very comfortable. In fact the duvet was so comfy that I have looked into the brand and buying one for home. It was like sleeping on a dream and very fluffy. 3) Shower. I've stayed at a bunch of hotels and water pressure for me is always something I watch out for. A bunch of places have poor water pressure for rain showers but loved this had good pressure and high heat. 4) Facilities. We didn't use the gym and pool but did notice they had a cute pool/pool chairs. The gym was equipped with one Peloton and basic weights, etc. Enough for a small hotel. I really loved the cute bar area in the lobby and outdoor patio area which the rooms surround. 5) Dog friendly. We paid the $125 dog fee and brought our dog. They provided us with a dog bed, bowl and treats. We loved how dog friendly the place was. 6) Location. It was about 3 blocks from State Street which we walked to all the shops. Zaytoon which is a famous Mediterranean place is around the corner along with Handlebar Coffee is a block away. Everything is within walking distance which was convenient. 7) Parking. Free Parking. Maybe it's an LA thing but when you have free parking that is a huge plus. Recommendations: 1) The only recommendation would be an area of grass or fake grass for dogs to go to the bathroom. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. It's classy, very clean, nice, convenient and quiet. We had such a wonderful time.

We're so happy we got a chance to stay at this wonderful inn. It's hard to beat its location, a peaceful 2-3 blocks from State Street. We'd echo other reviews that mention the free bike rentals, which makes getting around Santa Barbara a breeze for casual riders; deliciously soft chocolate chip cookies available at the front desk 24/7; the very nice continental breakfast with tortillas espanolas and smoothies on demand; the wine and cheese reception every night, etc. But there were two things that made this place unforgettable for us: it's so quiet and tranquil, even right next to the busiest part of Santa Barbara. Staying here felt like a vacation from our vacation. The second thing is the support staff - desk clerks David and Daisy, the cooks, everyone - are incredibly nice. They were very attentive, always pleasant, always asking how they could help us, and worked fast to make sure our stay was enjoyable. When we first checked in to our room we found that the bathroom sink wasn't draining properly, and after letting David know it was fixed within the hour. Everyone who works here really makes this place shine, and we can’t recommend it enough. We can't wait to come back!

We spent several days at the Palihouse in early August, and it was fantastic! Our room was on the first floor right by the pool, and despite there being a good number of guests staying in the hotel the entire experience felt incredibly private. Each room has a private patio or balcony, and that really helped enhance that secluded feeling. In terms of amenities, the pool was nice, the patio/cafe area was wonderful, the complimentary bikes were very fun to use to explore the area. The honor bar is a nice concept, but it's more of a novelty than something practical in my opinion. The location is excellent as well! It's just a couple blocks from the historic downtown area, which makes walking to and from a lot of interesting venues very easy, but it's also just far enough removed that you feel out of the hustle of the area, and it quiets down relatively early. All-in-all, this hotel is a must book!

This was not my first time staying here but I don’t think I’ll be back. |I love the location and the building/hotel itself but there is no personal connection/feeling at all imo. It was our anniversary and I emailed them ahead of time bec I hadn’t heard anything and had made our reservations 4-5 mos prior. I told them I wanted to confirm everything was set and it was our anniversary so wanted to make it as nice as possible. Got an email back with yes and congrats. Nothing like “would you like anything special like wine/cheese/chocolate in room or an upgrade” or whatever (not thinking for free btw).|But I knew it was a popular hotel and could tell not many rooms left so didn’t think too much about it. Arrived and got the same cold impersonal and “not special” sort of greeting while we waited for room to be ready. Went and got food and came back to sane person who didn’t remember us nor last name nor was room ready. So I just wrote it off to that day/those reception personnel. Our room was nice and exactly what I had paid for so that was great. Bed was comfy and plenty of space. Only odd thing was the lounge chairs in sitting area weren’t very comfy and not very “lounge friendly”. But really I liked room and setting of hotel overall. |We borrowed the bikes (nice that they have these comp) was given a lock since we had reservations at a restaurant. We bike all the way there and the combo was not the correct combo or the lock was broken (this was on us for not checking before we left palihouse) so we couldn’t stay for our res bec we didn’t want bikes potentially taken. When we got back we explained that lock didn’t work and we couldn’t keep our plans and all she said is huh I’ll have to ask maintenance and no apology or anything. ALWAYS check the lock before you leave if you gave a reservation is what I learned. Maybe that’s obvious but an “oh I’m so sorry” would have been nice. There was definitely lacking any personal attention this time around. So we avoided happy hour/breakfast after all that- just only used it as a place to sleep. Just do not go there if you are celebrating anything at all special or want any feeling that your visit is important. Won’t be going back but I do like the rooms/building/bed so i...

My boyfriend and I loved our romantic suite - it was gorgeous! Rachel at the front desk called us as promised, and let us know we could check in 2 hours early - she is awesome. My boyfriend requested chocolate covered strawberries and flowers in our room so it made the most beautifully romantic first impression! The bedroom was wonderful, soft sheets and pillows. It was very quiet throughout our stay and we both had a great night's sleep. The big tub, large shower and bathroom were great. I especially loved our balcony which was perfect for our morning coffee and breakfast, with a view of the pool. Rachel was always sweet, joy-filled and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Both the organic pastries for breakfast, and afternoon wine and cheese tasting in the dinning room were a lovely touch. There is covered parking and the lobby has a cute lobby area, they have a spa too. The stone floors, dark wooden fittings and design made the hotel and our suite feel very Spanish Colonial. It was raining when we arrived so the fireplace in our living room added a very cosy energy to our suite. It was our Valentine's celebration and my boyfriend chose the most beautiful and romantic boutique hotel and suite - it was wonderful!! I didn't want to leave, and I am already looking forward to returning when it's warmer to enjoy and hoping we get the same stunning suite! The only small suggestions my boyfriend and I have is to add soft cushions on the sofa in our suite as the arms were hard, and in the dinning room, their chairs and tables don't quite match the beautiful furniture in the rest of the hotel - which is in a wonderful Spanish...
