Utterly disappointed by a potentially great spot. I’ve recently been dealing with health issues and have an extremely restrictive diet (I can only eat most veggies, some fruits, and high quality meat, poultry, fish- that’s it). It’s been very difficult and one of the things that has made me feel better is finding organic, healthy food options that I can eat around town.
When I heard about AH juice Organics, I was so excited to check it out! The first time I went in, the woman was very helpful and accommodating! Bought $50 worth of product and loved it so much that the next morning, I drove straight over to get breakfast.
Since the woman had been so helpful and understanding, I was ready to start coming here everyday. I’m a loyal customer to places that have high quality products AND treat me well. Money is not an issue if I’m buying high quality food to nourish my body, but I’m not frivolous about it.
I walk into the completely empty cafe and the man working as the cashier was on the phone. No problem, I’m waiting and he’s not acknowledging me, which is ok cause I’m not in a rush. He gets off the phone, writing down something, still blatantly ignoring my existence, and then goes in the back and looks at me weirdly from back there. I can already feel that something different is going on. He slowly walks over and asks me what I want in a voice that is the voice of boredom death. I begin explaining my dietary restrictions and I’m asking what my options are. He is clearly looking inconvenienced about my questions and goes to the back to ask a higher up, who turns back and looks even more annoyed with me.
The manager (owner?) saunters over and begins to condescendingly explain that they don’t do substitutions and that I would have to pay extra and he is being very aggressive about it. At this point, I’ve lost my patience. First, their food is already expensive. I was asking what my options were so I could budget for the future trips to their cafe. I didn’t care how much it was going to cost until the manager started acting like a jerk about it.
The entire experience was so disappointing. There aren’t a lot of food places I can eat at, but this one was promising. I refuse to give my money to people who treat me as an inconvenient customer, rather than a friend and neighbor. Mesa Verde didn’t have ONE thing I could eat, but I left their restaurant with a giant smile on my face because the staff was trying so hard to work with me and felt really bad that they couldn’t accommodate me. That’s how a good business is run. Good luck AH juice and cafe, you’re...
Read moreReading the other reviews I can tell you why staff is “off” and not courteous. One of the owners has a very bad vibe and it must trickle down to staff. Here’s why I say this: I called to speak to him to let him know that I am not feeling good about his staff not wearing masks during Covid, as per CDC recommendations. Also that I had seen one of his staff SNEEZE in the kitchen, where food is prepared, and HE DIDN’T COVER HIS SNEEZE with sleeve or even his hand! The owner agreed that it was not a good thing and that he would talk to his employee about that. Then he told me very rudely that it wasn’t a good time to call because he was very busy. He had time though, to TELL ME AT LENGTH, that he’s a doctor, that he doesn’t believe in wearing masks and he lectured me about how there is no proof that masks help to prevent the spread of disease. The owner demanded that I tell him my full name “for full transparency” and repeated my full name 5 times during his lecture in an antagonistic tone. Telling me his expert opinion as to why our natural immunity is all we need to protect from Covid and an array of other “expert opinions”. I asked him whether he’d considered his customers who are immune compromised, like me, and others in high risk groups. And he said he was willing to take time to sit down and talk to me about my beliefs and how they are all wrong. Well bud, you just lost a customer and I will share this with my health minded friends. EDIT: First, my reaction to your reply: I don’t know anyone named “Deb” and second, there is no “bond” there to be broken. I want your readers to know that the treatment I have received from not only the owner, but other staff in the past as well, is nothing less than disrespectful, condescending and outright rude. I will also add here that the prices are outrageously high, parking is a nightmare and just not a healing place in general. A stressful environment with disrespectful owner and staff, spreading misinformation that could be dangerous to one’s health. Irresponsible comments that have no basis in science. I am respectfully saying these things to protect...
Read moreIt is sad for me to leave this review because I want to support all businesses that support the organic food community. Great juicer. Not so great owners. We have been going to this juicer for several years, and they make great organic juices and smoothies, as well as other organic foods. I would give them 5 stars, except that two of their employees, who my wife and I assume are the owners (a middle aged woman and a middle aged man with long hair) both emanate so much anger and negative energy that I, frankly, hate going in to pick up anything. It is the type of thing that is hard to explain. Both smile at you but you can feel this underlying anger that is palpable, and very uncomfortable. He is also quite condescending when you actually summon the bravery to engage him. I don't know if they just hate each other or are angry at having to deal with the public or if it is something completely unrelated. The rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is reasonable to assume that one who dedicates their life to healthy living and has built a business in sharing this information and products with customers of a similar mind would embrace the opportunity to deal with those customers. It would seem that they love the planet, but...
