After staying for a while, I've come up with a few elements that will enable me to build a relevant feedback on Halford Gardens.
The apartments appear to have been recently renovated and modernized (parquet flooring, kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven, etc.), elegant worktops. There's also a gym, 3 swimming pools (3 different temperatures), a hot tub, a children's play area and a (small) co-working space.
Despite the renovation, they've chosen old-fashioned, inefficient equipment and even placed some of it in strange places. The dishwasher in my apartment is an analog system, so if you set it wrong you risk starting a fire, whereas in some other apartments the new model has been installed. Despite my feedback on this problem, nothing has been done.
During summer heat waves, your only solution is to use a through-the-wall air conditioner that consumes a lot of energy, is noisy, non-programmable and not connected to any thermostat (even though there is one for the heating system...). This air conditioner is in the living room, but unfortunately it doesn't cool the bedroom, so there's a 5-degree difference between the two rooms. You don't even have a ceiling fan to remedy this, as it's been installed in the kitchen (logical?). The rental office recommends running it a few hours before the heat wave, but let's be honest, it's not effective.
I regret the lack of charging stations for electric vehicles, although when I visited I was assured that there were some close to the residence. This is true if you look on google maps, but after several checks they are private charging stations reserved for competing properties. 13 electric vehicles currently on site, that’s would be usefull install 2.
Finally, there's no bike rack to park your bike, which is a real shame, so you have to either store it at home or rent a small box for $35/month.
Halford Gardens is not far from being an excellent residence if they can add/improve the following: Install an AC Ductless Mini-Split in the living room and bedroom Or install a ceiling fan in the bedroom Standardize the installation of the same model of dishwasher that won't catch fire Install at least 2 electric vehicle charging stations (ChargePoint model CT4021-GW1 would be perfect) Halford Gardens could finance this by taking a commission on each charge. (Contributing to California's Zero CO2 Emission goal) Install a bike rack to facilitate parking (Participating in California's Zero CO2 Emission goal)
We hope this will help you make your choice and that feedback will be heard by the residence.
Finally, the staff is present and attentive if there are...
Read moreMy experience at Halfords Apartments has been very bad. I strongly advise anyone considering living here to think twice.
Very Unsafe Environment In June 2024, I witnessed two wheels being stolen off a car near the gym area. Though they claim to have night patrol and CCTV cameras, it is of no use for residents like us. Additionally, the apartment complex is ungated, which attracts a lot of homeless people making it really unsafe for everyone
Rude and Unprofessional Staff Behind desk staff are very rude, constantly shirking their responsibilities and pushing their tasks onto residents. Here are two specific examples of their incompetence: An employee made a mistake in pro-rating my rent when I was moving out. When I pointed out the mistake, she wanted me to come to the office to correct it. -When I asked the personnel handling security deposits to provide information about the legal obligations, he started lecturing me about the basic rules and regulations regarding housing
Security Deposit Scam Be warned: they will do everything they can to withhold your security deposit. In my case, they charged me $750 after move-out (this does not include the utility payment).
During the move-in inspection, the property manager specifically pointed out the kitchen cabinets and appliances for me to check. Not once did she mention inspecting the floor. However, after I moved out, they charged me for scuff marks on the floor—marks that were caused by their appliance movement! I had flagged this to the property manager when I moved in, but they dismissed it as "normal wear and tear." Now, they are using it as an excuse to deduct from my deposit. They did a pre-inspection of the property before I moved out. However, no pre-inspection documentation was provided to me mentioning about the damage.
Overall, you might be tempted by their one-month-free specials, which always runs thought out the year, but they will make sure to recoup that in some form.
Attaching some images which considered as damages. This is not possible for someone to make these in normal situations unless you are moving...

I have been a tenant here at Halford Gardens for almost 4 years! My wife myself and my son have had nothing but a great living experience here!
The best apartment property in the entire neighborhood by far! Very cost effective for what you get, very spacious living areas!
Schools close by, parks, shopping, food etc.
There have been maintenance problems within the home that have arisen occasionally as to be expected, and the response to fix them have been prompt and professional, shoutout to Jobe, maintenance worker! Regarding the office staff, Lilly and Julie, I have nothing but good things to say!
Regarding other reviews i have read, if you break the signed rules of the contract, then thats on you, lol! There have been ZERO hidden fees or surprise charges that we weren't already aware of!
We read the lease agreement thoroughly and understood what we were under contract for when signing on the line!
Office staff has always been available to answer questions personally and honestly are just a pleasant bunch of human beings! Kudos!
The prices for apartments are high everywhere, but Halford Gardens is on the more affordable side for what you get! Absolutely beautiful grounds, gorgeous pool areas, wonderful gym, tech hub etc.
The cable and internet signals have been next to perfect with no interruption from the property side! We know, we are small social media influences and use the internet ALOT!
There has been theft here and there and tbh is hard for management to combat, and they do try! They do have security and cameras, outside of this, what else can they do? Thefts have risen throughout the bay area, doesn't matter where you go! Just don't keep valuables in your vehicles and nothing will happen! Contact your local government officials to empower the police to do thier job and not empower the criminal! That's the issue!
Happy...
