Very disappointing experience. I've visited another The Now location in LA and had a good experience, which is what prompted me to book an 80 minute massage at the Santa Monica location. It's quite pricey, but because of the quality of my previous massage at the now in Silverlake felt it would be worth it to book the longer Massage.
The massage I received this time was extremely mediocre. It felt like the person didn't know what they were doing and used almost no pressure. I've received a lot of massages and I've just never had an experience where it felt like the masseuse didn't know how to massage any areas of the body - none of my knots were addressed, it just felt like aimless light rubbing. I kept waiting for the gentle warm-up section at the beginning of the massage to end and it never did. He also used way way too much oil which was quite uncomfortable during the massage. He put so much oil in my hair that I had to wash it multiple times to get it all out. So unprofessional. This is the first massage I've ever received, especially at this price point, where I was counting the minutes until it was over. I felt quite uncomfortable by the end, feeling like someone who didn't know what they were doing was touching my body.
Unfortunately, it overall just felt like a waste of time and money. If this was the first massage I've ever received at The Now I wouldn't have returned, and to be honest with the possibility that it could be this bad again I likely won't and can't honestly recommend anyone else come here either. I understand when this kind of thing happens when you go to some of the cheaper random places but at this cost and with this brand, it just feels wrong. There are other massage places on Main St which are way cheaper and more consistently...
Read moreUnfortunately the birthday massage I had with Kate on September 10th left me with new pain instead of relaxation. I scheduled an 80 minute massage with cupping, noting the areas I wanted focused (my upper back/neck mainly). I have received this exact massage (the Now)with cupping multiple times through this company and was looking forward to it. The first 30 minutes were pretty standard but once the cupping began I was immediately concerned. Cups were being used in sensitive areas that I didn’t ask for/have never been massaged at the Now, mainly my breast and forearms which I had to stop - verbally noting to the therapist that it hurt. There was little to no work done on my neck and upper back and the work that was done didn’t feel even or breath timed in the slightest. When I flipped over and counter pressure to my forehead for some kind of aromatherapy and tapping it also didn’t help. When I left the massage I immediately noted new discomfort on my left shoulder. Kate said to not worry and drink lots of water and put heat on it but largely disregarded my obvious discomfort. The front desk also wasn’t able to provide much help when I mentioned being in more pain after.
24 hours after the massage I woke up flat on my back but with a massive pain in my left shoulder. After my husband examined the cupping bruising he noted one overlapping cluster of bruises only in my left shoulder and one light cupping bruise on my lower right hip. All of my cupping massages at the Now in WeHo have resulted in parallel bruising. Overall, this was an amateur massage unfortunately. You will genuinely get a MUCH better massage for half the cost at any of the local salons on Wilshire (maybe just less interior design & bring your...
Read moreI’m writing to express my concern regarding a recurring issue with your online appointment system and a disappointing interaction I had with a staff member today.
Every time I book an appointment online, the system defaults to the Santa Monica location, even though I always intend to schedule at West Hollywood. Unfortunately, this has happened twice, and today it auto generated for Santa Monica location.
As soon as I received the text message confirming the appointment (literally within seconds), I called the Santa Monica office to explain the situation and request that it be corrected. I was surprised and upset by how I was treated. The woman I spoke with who identified herself as the manager was quite rude and insisted on charging a cancellation fee, despite my immediate attempt to fix what was clearly a system driven error.
I would have understood if I had failed to show up or hadn’t contacted the office, but this was a prompt, honest mistake caused by the website defaulting to the wrong location. The lack of understanding and kindness I received on the call was disheartening.
I’ve been a loyal patient for a long time and have always had wonderful experiences with the West Hollywood team, who are truly amazing. Today’s interaction left me feeling unwelcome and unvalued, which was very upsetting.
I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and look into both the technical issue with the online system and the manner in which patients are treated when they call with concerns. I truly appreciate the care I’ve received in the past and hope to continue as a patient but I also hope for a more compassionate and helpful experience...
