Following Grand Re-Opening (6 mts After Oct 10, 2017 Tubbs Fire): Just visited the remodeled store. At least two departments are gone, including Big & Tall. When I asked staff where the Big & Tall Department went, I was directed to the space near the NEW Customer Service "area," which is actually just the checkout for the north side of the store. He was not totally honest, as there is no Big & Tall Dept. now. I asked two other employees, who would NOT give me a direct answer to the question, "What happened to the Big & Tall Dept.?" That's just bizarre: Either the Department Exists OR Not, Right?!
The old DEDICATED Customer Service area on the 2nd floor is gone, so now you'll wait with those checking out to return any items, but a pleasant computer voice will direct you to the next available register. Believe me, EVERYONE is going to notice this "IMPROVEMENT" during the Holiday Shopping & RETURN Season, as there will be a huge pile-up, as Customers WAIT for the computer voice to assign you a Check-Out...er...uh...Return Register (Again, b/c they are NOW one and the same in this large store. Heck, even Ukiah, at 40% of the size has BOTH a Return (Dedicated Customer Service Area & Dedicated Registers, SEPARATELY, at the South Entrance THERE).
Overall, there is about 15-20% less stock in what was and probably still is the largest Kohls in the region...and that estimate is adjusted for the obvious LACK of clearance items, since it's basically a brand new store at the moment, and it will take a while for seasonal stock to accrue for discount, and Clearance STATUS. You'll notice it in the Bedding/Linens Dept. for sure. The Bedding Dept is easily about 1/2 of what it was before the Oct 2017 Tubbs Fire
Lighting is excellent (preserving a 2nd star in my review), making it easy to see how much shelving has been removed, further proving they'll never stock it the way it was again.
My previous review might have been a solid 3.5 stars. No more.
It's clean, and more sanitized than ever. They went overboard. I wanted to love it, but if you shopped the old version often, you'll be as surprised, if you paid/pay close attention.
I miss Mervyn's more than ever.
UPDATE (Summer 2018): Some 3 months Later, they "found" a "Big & Tall" SIGN, placed it near the Northwest corner of the store, and have Increased big/tall Stock from NONE at the Grand Re-opening (tho the stock now isn't anywhere near pre-fire levels). So, upon reevaluation, I'll add another STAR, Increasing it from 2-3.
However, I prefer Petaluma (Larger 1-story Site ), Redding (similar size to Petaluma), Ukiah (well-stocked, but small), and Eureka (Great Customer Service due to longserving Mid-Lvl Mngrs, but often missing stock/sizes I see in similar-sized Ukiah) Stores, in THAT Order, OVER this redone Regional Flagship type store. By eliminating a dedicated Customer Service Department (upstairs), my bet is there are, at least, 8-10 LESS Employees in the SR Store than before the...
Read moreThe Fam and I love Kohl's. We have shopped habitually at multiple stores and even ordered bicycles and random things online that are not in store. Great savings, great selection. Never had a problem with service until today.
We were helped by an older Indian man with a thick accent and the interaction started out fine if not a little overly friendly. We got scratchers with more savings and were excited to see how much we'd be saving! The cashier insisted on handling my Kohl's card himself, eventually swiping it 3 times from the other end of the counter. I have been an authorized buyer on this account for many years and have used the same card for at least 2 years. According to the cashier, the card was declined. I was asked for my ID and was even promoted to input MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER into the pin pad, all of which has never been required of me at any Kohl's location. The entire time he claimed my card was not valid while aggressively trying to get me to open a new account. I must have heard the phrase "35% savings" 3 or 4 times after I politely declined and asked if I could just pay for my items with my current account. He kept saying vague things like, "it's no good" and coming back to how much more I could save if I provided another form of payment. Of course the cashier made it a huge spectacle which held up the line and caused other customers to stare and snicker directly at me and embarrass the family members I was with. We ended up leaving with nothing because the cashier would not stop talking and refused to accept no for an answer. I was interrupted, talked over, and ignored when I asked for a supervisor. I never write reviews or even complain much about bad service but this was just such an awful experience I felt the need to write this lengthy diatribe. Terrible customer service. Good luck to anyone unfortunate enough to have this person...
Read moreIt's kohls. Parking is good. They have clothes.
The workers i met in person are friendly .
The 2 star rating is for the unisex single stall bathoom.
Why the hell does the smart sensor light turn off after 2 minutes? I had to jump around to have it turn back on. Then it began beeping ominously. And I noticed a backwards counting clock... was this an episode of 24? Was something going to go boom?
Yes. The lights are completely off. No amount of movement will turn them on. My phone can be used as a flashlight o know, and the people complaining outside are legitimately curious... but what the hell?
The reduction in electrical use for this one bathroom will NEVER justify the cost associated with an 80 year old falling down because the light turned off , they had to finish wiping in total darkness and then tripping over wheel chair and breaking a hip.
Idiots. Absolute f'n degenerate morons. Congrats on stupidest $ saver.
Edited. Now 1 star. The sink has one of those moronic push down and water comes out for 5 seconds at one temperature, and shuts off making you redirty your hands.
This is a ADA disabled person designated restroom... I mean come on now. 2 minutes before total black out and a faucet that is cumbersome to use for a non developmentally challenged person with 2 complete and funtional arms.
Your store sells faucets, sinks and towel dispensers.. maybe install some of your own product?
I may up the star count to 5 exclusively based on the fact that EVERY employee I've seen here is a hot female with appropriately tight fitting clothing. Very very pleasant and easy on eyes. I will definitely come back here. I'll go crap at appelbees across parking lot in future. I approve the employees. This must be th start to trumps making America...
