I must say this family owned business the best most professional gun shop for miles. Having spent most of my career in Special Operations in the Ft Bragg NC area great gun shops are all over. When I moved to Florida they were lacking.
In Sarasota up until a few years ago there were not many choices, nor did I every take the trip down town to the bullet hole. Well my mistake for sure. Over the past few years I have been frequenting an establishment on Bee Ridge close to 75 as its far closer to my home. For the Range I will continue but for gun purchase never again the Bullethole is my new home.
The main reason for my change is simple the "Other" shop has so many employee's coming and going and the staff for the most part has no clue on product knowledge. They have a great gunsmith at the "Other location" but he likes to price gauge. For example $50 to put a set of sights on a striker fire weapon.. OMG please that's highway robbery. $20-$30 max. So this was the reason as well as the staffs lack of knowledge of product my exclusive business went searching for a new home.
When I walked into the Bullet hole, i did not expect much as it's down town and a bit hard to find. OMG the selection was awesome! They have so many exquisite weapons, hand guns, rifles, and Class 3. A matter of fact the owners son Brook had me use their computer system which scanned my prints and stored my info for any Class 3 purchase in the future. WOW that was great. I didn't expect this location to be busy but to my surprise they have a constant flow of serious buyers, no Lookie Loo's!! As I purchased my new weapon the process so smooth. Also I had questions on the specific hard to get firearm. The "Other" Shop's employees' bullshitted me on availability and options making things up out of thin air. When I asked the same questions at the Bullet Hole, they called the product rep directly and searched online to get all the accurate information.
The "Other places" may deal in volume and "Clip" you on trades or services kind of like a used car dealer but The Bullet Hole is a Class act of its own. This family run business is top notch and would highly recommend this establishments to anyone looking for really nice firearms. It's...
Read moreMy husband (prior military) and I are relocating to Sarasota from Arizona. All of us in our family are avid shooterâs, and know our firearms and equipment very well. As we were bouncing around downtown Sarasota we spotted The Bullet Hole, and my husband immediately turned in! We were excited to see what the local gun shops offered. That excitement quickly evolved into pure letdown. When we entered the shop, none - no, not one, ever- of the staff behind the counter or elsewhere even acknowledged our presence. As we browsed up-and-down the âaislesâ, I could see the frown developing on my husbandâs face. Sloppy, unkempt shelves and racks full of various equipment that often seem to have no order to it at all. Very difficult to find the holster we were looking for, so we finally gave up. The firearm selection itself was fair, though nothing to do back-flips over. However, everything was extremely overpriced. My husband intentionally looked at the prices on a pistol and a shotgun, both that we own and have purchased in the last few months. The prices at the bullet hole were 20 to 25% higher than what we paid for the very same firearms, recently. We meandered through the entire shop, up and down each aisle, and along the gun counter from one end to the other. No one ever acknowledged our presence. Ever. It was like we werenât even there at all. The look on my husbandâs face told me everything as he finally said, âScrew this place, these guys are a joke!â Out the door we walked, never to return. As avid Shooters who own, maintain, and customize multiple firearms, and a family that EASILY burns through 2000+ rounds of ammunition a month, we were appalled By the lack of service, the shotty upkeep and presentation of the shop, and the horrific mark up. My husbandâs last words as we walked out the door:
âThese guys are just flat out offensive.â
Worst customer service experience EVER.

Read moreThis is a family run business. The person in this store you need to talk to is the "Son." The son is the most helpful and honest... I believe his name is Brooke. He is up front and honest and really willing to a) be flexible on prices b) educate or teach you about features and products and c) hold generally pleasant conversation. Moms was great and really friendly as well. Pops was the least personable. In order of best gun shops in Sarasota 1) The Bullet Hole 2) Gunsmith Gallery 3) High Noon Guns. The bullet hole is the only store in town that sells every working piece of an AR15 separately as well(have kits as well if interested) Which is awesome when you don't need an entire lower parts kit and are looking for just a bolt catch or something. The bullet hole also makes buying a suppressor super simple as they even take your picture and finger prints right in the store so you don't have to go and hassle with everything yourself! Then they send in all your suppressor paperwork necessary the same day you buy the suppressor! It's a one stop shop! They also sell holsters, biggest selection of safes in town, and optics. This store is an lwrc, pof, Daniel defense, and benchmade dealer. They do carry products that are considered higher end in quality and price if that's what you're looking for. You can also just as easily find budget and value pieces as well such as standard ar-15's, glocks, standard fare shotguns, and vortex and...
