I would give 0 stars if it was allowed.
All was well today until THIS dealership that's been around since 1912 told us they will no longer work on our vehicle (that's under warranty and they've only looked at once) because they are afraid they won't satisfy us which could result in them receiving a negative survey.
Hold. The. Fork.
I drive my Jeep everywhere, for everything. Toting around animals, kids, cleaning equipment, vacations, you name it, she's had 14,000 miles packed on her in 6 months. We knew I drove a lot which is why I got the newer car. There's a safety concern happening in which my wheel tilts harshly left or right on its own at highway speeds. The dealer looked at it for 30 minutes which included a road test that confirmed the concern and reprogramming the wheel and said, "your tires need to be replaced because they're cupped and it needs an alignment." We drove off the lot and the concern was still happening. Within a week, new tires and rims were put on the Jeep and it was aligned. The problem was still happening. My husband was in constant communication with the dealership and we got nothing but the run around for going back in. We were told they needed to confirm with the technician when it worked in his schedule to look at it again. Between him and I, we have 35 years in the business. A technician does NOT determine what they are going to look at and when. Fast forward to today, we were asked when we can bring our Jeep back in and then my husband received a call from the service manager stating, "Per the owner, I was told to tell you that we will no longer touch your Jeep. He doesn't feel we'll be able to satisfy you with the repair and doesn't want a bad survey from it."
Hold. The. Fork. X2
We've both been service managers. We've both had to deal with tricky vehicles many times, we both have never told a customer because of potential negative feedback we won't touch your car. Not for any reason! We have a safety concern, a Jeep that's close to 36,000 miles, and we're now being forced to go elsewhere. In addition to this, and this is the BEST part of this whole scenario, the owner relayed to my husband via email, "Your standards are too high." My husband owns his own auto repair business and does quality work at an affordable price. His standards are high because every vehicle he touches he takes seriously and puts safety as his number one priority.
As a side note, we both worked for this dealer as well which is why they were our first choice. My husband also refers clients who come to see him with warranty work to go to that dealer because we trusted them.
Word of advice: A car purchase is the second largest purchase people make. When you treat them like garbage after they leave your lot, I surely hope you do not expect to be valued and respected within the community. This is why we both left the automotive industry. We were tired of making someone else's dream thrive when the owner(s)/management were nothing but greedy and only cared about the bottom dollar. This is why we both now run our own businesses.
Take care of people and in turn they will take...
Read moreI've lived in Port for more than a decade and drove by this dealership a lot over the years. In that time, I've always been a Honda or Acura guy that was into Cars & SUV's, never a truck. I did own a couple of Fords that were bought from Ford Dealerships prior but I won't get into that. Only recently I started getting into trucks and my current Honda was aging and I wanted something different this time from a different manufacturer even though I never had problems with Honda and Acura. I started looking at trucks a couple of months ago after being put in a rental and really liked being in a truck, which started my truck journey. I looked and researched a few trucks I was interested in. Although I was going to give the dealership I've been working with for years a shot, I gave Schmit Bros a try since they had a few trucks that caught my eye and one in particular.
I must say, from start to finish, the experience was AWESOME! I've bought 4 vehicles from a local Honda dealer in the past 14 years and had pretty good experience every time I've gone there, including servicing my vehicle but never nothing this good. So it says a lot at what I'm about to say and the experience I have in buying cars over the years.
My sales rep was Nick K. and he was great. We set the expectations in the beginning on what I was looking for and how I was new to trucking. He took the time to explain everything and was very patient and answered all my questions. He wasn't rushing me whatsoever even though I told him that I was just looking. Again, setting proper expectations but the the biggest thing was the CS experience. I planned to make a good review regardless if I were to make a purchase or not. I ended up making that purchase and couldn't be happier.
Nick took the time to explain everything inside the truck. Didn't rush. He wasn't looking to get me in and out. I've had that feeling before when looking and buying from other dealerships. Even when it was recommended to put a deposit hold on the truck, it wasn't forced or pushy about it like I've experienced at other places. It was explained, if I didn't want to go through with it or couldn't agree on terms, I could walk away with no pressure whatsoever. Deposit or not, he even recommended to have me think about it overnight, which I did. What sales person does that??
During the purchase experience, again Nick was there and helpful the whole time. Walked me through setting up my uConnect account and basically making sure I was setup with everything before leaving the lot. He even went through the stuff on the truck again, which was greatly appreciated.
Paperwork was pretty standard but went smooth with Aaron S., the Business Manager. He wasn't rushing either and explained everything properly.
I'd highly recommend Schmit Bros for anyone that is looking...
Read moreGood place to buy a car. Good service! My story with Schmit Bros. starts in 2013 when we bought a new Durango and Grand Caravan. We did our homework, knowing what we should pay using Edmund's. We were floored to find that Schmit's deal was better than our lowest estimate on both vehicles. The Durango has been troublesome. I love it when it works the way it should, but I would think twice about buying another. Schmidt brothers told me that I have a leaking radiator and AC system, approx. $4000 worth of repairs needed (2018)UPDATE: HAVE NOT REPLACED RADIATOR OR AC SYSTEM COMPONENTS. EVERYTHING STILL IN WORKING ORDER. SERVICE DESK INSISTED THAT RADIATOR AND AC NEEDED TO BE REPLACED LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME (2019). Schmit however, has provided very good warranty service and has given me a free loaner when I've needed to bring the vehicle in for service. Brian, Kasey, and the guys have been great to work with. The Caravan has been 100% trouble free. Just like the 2002 we owned prior. UPDATE: STILL NO AC ISSUES. STILL NO COOLING SYSTEM ISSUE.(2021) 140000 miles. Get your car serviced elsewhere once out of warranty. UPDATE: 2023 HAD TO HAVE COOLING SYSTEM REPAIRED AT AUTOMOTIVE ADVANTAGE. $200 LAST YEAR. AC...
