If you are used to using the original design of Elfa shelving, you might not like the new track. They now recommend installing the track below the header and using drywall anchors where you donât have stud. The original design recommended putting the track on the header, which is a much better, much more stable installation. IMO. Also, the new track has slots on the top edge which facilitate sliding on the standard. If your track screws are not absolutely perfectly flush with the track, youâll have difficulty sliding the standard along the track. This was not the case with the original design. Youâd angle in the standard and the top of the standard would fit underneath a lip on the top edge of the track. That is no longer the case. The cost of the shelving is out of control. You can get track shelving at Home Depot or just order a clothes hanging rig or closet unit from Amazon or Wayfair. Much less money. Finally, I found the staff to be somewhat surly and condescending in this store. The container store is just another greed driven, corporate operation. I will say that the freestanding Elfa basket units are probably one of the better products sold there. I would still give those a thumbs up.
Final comment. The âseasonedâ Elfa design person was openly critical of me for possibly not having the screw heads exactly flush with the track. There is no counter-sink on the track. There is almost no tolerance between the face of the track and the standard to accommodate a slight defect with placement of the screw head. Imperfect screw head placement never mattered with the original track system because you did not have to slide the track over the screwheads. You could simply place them where you wanted when...
Read moreI like the Container Store to begin with, and the staff at the Schaumberg location are friendly and helpful. The store is manageablenin terms of finding what you are looking for, and we'll organized, go figure. I've been to the store in Oak Brook, which is a Show Room. That one is very pretty, but somehow more difficult to navigate/find things, though I cannot articulate why. The staff at Oak Brook are far less friendly compared to Schaumberg or the store in Chicago. We were treated so ppprly at the OakBrook store the last time we were there, we are unlokely to return to it. The Schaumberg locale is easy to find, they have easy parking lot access, and staff will kindly and respectfully help you if you want or need assistance. They keep a far greater variety of items in stock at the Schaumberg store compared to OakBrook, e.g., platinum Elfa pieces of any kind. Try to catch sales, as prices can be hard on the wallet. If you need help with organization, want interesting or modern organizational pieces, or need to build out a closet or garage, The Container Store is a great option. The Elfa systems are almost like giant Legos with storage capabilities; some of the brands they carry are Simple Human, Umbra, OXO, etc. I recommend The Container Store...
Read moreDear General Manager, I am compelled to write this ONE star review that has been well earned! We needed to furnish 5 closets. We did the design online and called in to iron out the details. The designer, instead of assisting with the task at hand, has attempted to collect personal information, even asking for my height .. WTF? and did not follow up with phone call as promised. Such conduct is offensive, unprofessional, unacceptable and most certainly disgraceful. Perhaps we need to look for different supplier. Overall negative experience. Our time was wasted. We will update this review and faithfully describe our experience if proper service is provided.
Updating to TWO star. The designer has finally followed up and provided needed service in respect of design planning and preparation. Will...
