4 days later and a few purple shampoo showers: the review is in.
I want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed the experience and will defintely return. I was very nervous to get my hair dyed. I went from jet black to platinum.
I had my hair done by Kyle. Almost as soon as I walked in I was greeted and made to feel at home. I felt welcome and comfortable. I had a past hair dyeing experience and it felt like my head was set on fire; needless to say I was nervous about history repeating itself but that greeting and the ongoing communication helped to soothe the nerves.
For hospitality, cleanliness, courtesy and professionalism 10/10.
I have recieved SO MANY positive, genuine, compliments. I've caught curious eyes glancing in my direction on multiple occasions.
But I've also recieved the typical eminem, slim shady, banter 💀. They don't deny it looks GREAT but you know how people just HAVE TO throw in their jabs 🙄
Which brings me to my concern, not a major one, but this place is popular; and it happened to be a problem. Appointments can get rushed to meet time constraints. I did feel rushed towards the end of the experience and I also feel like that sense of urgency also reflected in the quality of the dye itself.
Although the hair came out looking great 👍 it was left quite noticably yellow (bleached. Where the toner did not stick too well), especially on the sides. I wear a hat at work, always, so what is majorly visible are the sides. I went in for platinum and everyone seems to compliment my blonde hair 🥲
First world problem, I understand, but ultimately I can't help but feel my hair was not entirely finished. Another reason is due to being told I would have the edges cleaned up (I did not ask for a haircut or anything other than the color change) free of charge; this never happened. Instead I was given a blow dry which I wasn't aware I was also being charged for- honestly had I known I would've paid for the haircut instead because it would have made the whole thing look extremely clean.
Ultimately, the hair looks great either way, and I feel great about it. I just wish the color on the sides matched the color on the top. I enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back. 7/10 overall.
*I unfortunately cannot share pictures otherwise I would show where the platinum contrasts to...
Read moreThis review is purely based on the attitude of Courtney today during my visit. The salon is great, Courtney’s quality of work is great, but today she must’ve had an off day. First, I was called and asked to arrive a half hour before my appointment. I told them I could arrive 15 minutes earlier than my appointment and was left waiting for 10 minutes by Courtney upon arrival. Everything was normal and then it came time to add toner. She had someone assist her to add toner so I simply asked if everything was okay or if something was wrong. She said the other person was just helping her and there wasn’t a problem. I’m not sure if my question offended her but from that moment her demeanor changed. When she went to rinse it, I asked her if it had been 20 minutes already because that’s how long she told me it would stay on. I looked at my watch and told her it had been 10. She replied, 15, I set a timer. I can leave it longer if you’d like (with a defensive tone). I replied, “No, I just remember you saying 20.” I told her that the appointment I previously mentioned to her canceled and that I was sure she had things to do but I no longer had a deadline. She went to blow dry my hair. When she was done, she asked what I thought. I told her if she was done, my hair was still very damp. She re-dried pieces from the bottom. Then, she asked if it was dry now. I said, no but it’s okay, I can do it when I get home. She responded, I’m confused how it’s not dry. I said, I’m not sure if you took longer than you expected but your energy is off. She told me that it was because of how I treated her! She walked off leaving the towel on the back of my neck (didn’t notice till I got to the car) and my hair looking like the picture added! I understand people have bad days but because of her attitude today, I will not go back. It’s a shame because she does color my hair the way I like and the salon is pleasant as well as the staff. Again, maybe it was just a bad day and my review is not a reflection of the entire business or staff..just Courtney on this...
Read moreOn Dec 13 I went in and paid $150 for a perm with Tom and left crying because my hair looked awful and nothing like what I asked for. 1st picture is what I asked for AND showed him. 2nd and 3rd pictures are two days after the appointment. Half my hair was burnt and orange. He never took a strand test, and never told me that my hair would be so damaged from the chemicals he used. He said he’d done hundreds of perms and if this is how they turned out every time then I am SO sorry for whoever had to experience this. I sent them a DM on IG after two days and they scheduled me for a consultation with Jay. She gave me a layered haircut, keratin treatment, and gave me some products to use to help rehydrate my hair.(4th pic) Products I would’ve never needed had my hair not been so damaged. A week after this consultation appointment I started having the WORST dandruff. I’ve never in my life had dandruff so when I first started seeing it I was absolutely taken aback. The picture I attached was one of the days it wasn’t even that bad.(5th pic) As well as some of my hair from the roots is quite literally bent because of the improper placement of the rod during the perm causing irritation at the root as the hair grows. I’ve been losing CHUNKS of hair whenever I shower due to breakage (6th pic) I’ve gone to two different salons and both have said that I should sue for the damage that was done. I don’t recommend this salon to anyone and I mean that very passionately. I am grateful for Jay giving me products to “help” rehydrate my hair but I would’ve never needed them had the perm been done properly. I never received a refund or even an apology for how bad my hair was left. My hair used to be long, brown and healthy. (7th pic) Now it’s quite literally an orange hue due to the chemicals that were used. Not ONCE was I told any of these things would happen during the initial appointment. I am genuinely so...
