Visited this store today, drove over 30 minutes to get a computer/laptop. As I get to the electronics department, I browse the different selection of laptops and what have you. I also looked online prior to my arrival. Anyway, a guy that says his name is āPeteā (tall, whiteish hair, Caucasian) is at the register (around 4:30 pm). I ask him if I could get a computer and I pointed in the direction of the laptop. He boldly and loudly says no I could not. I laughed and asked why not. He proceeds to say that I can not get a laptop or computer and that if I wanted one, thereās only one gaming computer in stock which costs $1700. He said the store is completely out of computers/laptops. His demeanor was scary. I looked around and realized he had an audience that looked like him. Since Iām a brown person, I figured he refused to help me because I was different him. He walked away from the register, as did I. I was really bothered by his behavior because I knew there was at least 1 laptop available for about $300 or $299 but this guy refused to service or help me. He lied about what was available, in fact, he refused to attempt to help. He immediately said no and bye. I was embarrassed, I felt ashamed I was hurt because I know his behavior does not represent the entire culture of Walmart. Iām a lifelong Walmart shopper. But this location, Iām not sure the right management is aligned. I actually called the store after my encounter with Pete. And again, I needed this computer/laptop bc Iām working from home during this pandemic and I needed another computer/laptop. Anyway, I called and asked for a manager. I wanted to verify that the store in fact, was out of laptops and computers with the exception of one gaming laptop for $1700. So, Orlando gets on the phone and says heās the manager. Orlando becomes defensive almost immediately when I began to explain the prejudice and discriminatory acts āPeteā had just did. Orlando says well u can complain by calling 1800walmart. As a leader/manager of the store, I expected Orlando to act a bit more empathetic and concerned about Walmartās customer. I expected Orlando to be manager like but allās I feel I got was excuses and a defensive, possibly friend of Pete-they sound alike and may very well look alike-different from me. I asked Orlando what was Peteās name (before I doubled back and got his name) and Orlando says no Iām not giving u anyoneās name. Well I want to make sure I complained on the right person. I described āPeteā to Orlando and Orlando suddenly caught amnesia. He says, wait Iām confused, u were here today, how long ago-I repeated myself for Orlando. The whole scernario had happened within a few minutes of me calling the store and speaking to Orlando. Orlando puts me on hold and assumingly speaks to his buddy āPeteā and comes back to say that they have 1 computer/laptop for $299-the one I wanted to purchase but āPeteā refused to sell it to me because of my different dialect and skin tone. Sooo, āPete lied about the store being completely out of laptops/computers. The laptop/computer that I drove Over 30 minutes to purchase was in fact available in store for purchase. āPeteā represented Walmart in total disgrace. I ended up leaving the store as I talked on the phone because of Pete didnāt want to allow me to make a purchase in his department and his manager backs him up, there is no telling what else these two are capable of. I felt it was best and in my best interest as a black or brown person to leave alive and well. I called corporate but since Iām a busy working mom, I canāt wait around for them to answer (high call volume). I actually missed the call back. Maybe Iāll call again and follow up. But, whew, the experience at this store was gruesome. I felt scared that they were going to attack me over the phone idk itās just scary when someone refuses to allow u to purchase an item in Walmart, of all places. This isnāt 400 years ago, people shouldnāt be denied service based on their race, itās illegal...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI never imagined I would care enough to write a review for a Walmart but here we go.
Starting off with the positives: Kianta, Harley, and Panoom (hopefully all spelled correctly) were are really pleasant workers and seemed eager to help me out at this location.
Negatives: This location as others have said has a really weird layout and usually one one or two registers open other than the self check out. I was having trouble checking out because my card wouldnāt read even after multiple attempts, I tried getting cash at the ATM provided and also ran into this issue, and then even finally tried the Walmart app with no luck either. This was obviously an inconvenience (that was later resolved by going to my own banksā ATM to get cash out) but things happen. However, during this ordeal the team leader Julie was assisting me and their attitude was extremely off putting. I could tell they were annoyed by the situation by the huffing and puffing and saying things in their earpiece like āIām STILL with this customerā like I was trying to be there any longer either than they were. More concerning though is how Julie communicates were the other coworkers. Julie was very unkind and condescending to Panoom in particular and it was making me really uncomfortable. When I returned to purchase my items, I was relieved that Julie was no where around to interact with me or the other staff.
Also, I was so off put my Julieās borderline abusive comments and attitude towards the staff that I spoke to corporate about it. Someone named Ethan seemed eager to fix this and even offered a follow up phone call which was appreciated. Bottom line I hope all of the staff gets the better treatment...
