Ate there 3 days ago, was so excited they opened , this was the first we dined in since the covid-19. It was clean, followed the guidelines and staff were very pleasant. However the food was bad. This is not authentic Mexican food. Very bland, If you are familiar with Mexican food, you know it is flavorful and complex. We ordered the cheese stuffed shrimp. This did not appear to be made there, It appeared to be from a frozen product. it was a flat breaded shrimp with velveta cheese or cheese whiz.It tasted good but not what I have had in the past years ago at another El Campesino. My fried chicken chimichanga was not fried, but soft . It had enough shredded chicken but NO seasoning , very very bland. I would not have eaten it, had it not been for the refried beans or the guacamole sauce . My husband ordered a combo and only ate half of the bland taco, and had to ask for hot sauce for the enchilada and tostada , and then only ate a portion. I wanted this to be sucessful , because we love Mexican food.,but they need to fix the problem with the food flavors. I came home and looked up several fried chicken chimichanga recipes that showed it to have chicken, black beans, cheese ,cumin and other seasonings, fried crispy with the white cheese splattered over. This was not what I got . Please look into this , because I want this...
Read moreWent to El Campesino this last Friday. RT50 in Heidelburg. Arrived and waited for 15-20 minutes to be seated. In that time, multiple wait staff walked by multiple times and tried their best to stare at the floor. Finally got seated and waited another fifteen to twenty minutes to get drinks, (two waters and one iced tea). Then we finally got the menu and some chips and a half cup of salsa. I like the salsa. We ordered some queso Blanco because you must. After about another twenty minutes the waiter showed up to take our orders, without making note of the order. At this point we were still cordial and friendly. So, we ordered, and proceeded to wait over an hour. At the end of this hour, two families of four and a large group of about 15 high schoolers with chaperones from a ball game came in and were seated. Then we watched as these various groups started getting served ahead of us, with a no show from our waiter for this hour. After about fifteen more minutes of trying to get waitstaffs attention we decided to leave. I left three bucks - two ninety-nine more than I should have - for the tea and Queso. Never going there again. (Hour and 45 minutes in total. Three dollars. bowl of chips with queso and salsa with drinks. I'm a...
Read moreThe only time I've ever left a restaurant without even eating my entrée. Don't waste your time or money--go elsewhere.
We we seated and got drink/app order taken in a normal amount of time, then didn't get to order our dinners for another 30 minutes. We waited 1.5 hours for our entrees to come out, and watched people be seated, eat, and leave prior to use even getting our food for 4 people. During that time, we got checked on once for drink refills. Out of our group, my food never actually came out from the kitchen. The meals that did come out were not just cool, but cold. We asked for boxes that never came, so we agreed not to press for them and just to leave the food there since we had no idea how long it sat out since it was cold and we were there for so long.
Bathrooms were dirty and had things smeared on the women's stalls, and paper towel dispensers only gave out ~2" of towel to dry your hands.
Very clear that there is poor management running an under-staffed establishment WILDLY inefficiently with servers running across the whole restaurant but 3 hosts.
2 stars instead of 1 because it was a good margarita and for the fact the manager did comp the meal since we didn't get a chance eat anything outside of...
