6/3/25 I usually enjoy shopping at TJ Maxx, and today started out no different. I had a cart full of clothes to try on and was met at the fitting room by a sweet older woman who was kind and welcoming. She made the experience pleasant, and I appreciated her friendly demeanor.
After trying on a few items, I went back out to browse and picked up some more clothes to try. This time, however, I was met by a different employee at the fitting roomâDianeâwhose attitude was unfortunately the opposite. I had about 18 items and was placing them on the rack when she immediately said, âI hate when customers have more than 10 items.â I apologized, but she responded with, âItâs your problem, not mine.â I didnât engage and simply brought in 10 items, as per the policy.
When I returned a few pieces I didnât want, she made a passive-aggressive comment: âThank God Iâm not the one doing all that clothes trying on.â At that point, I was just trying to shop in peace and didnât appreciate the negativity. When I came back with the remaining 8 items to try on, she muttered something about how many hours she still had left in her shift.
After trying on the rest, I returned what I didnât want, kept the rest, and told her to have a good rest of her shift. Her response? âI probably wonât, I have hours left until I can leave.â At that point, I just left the fitting room area feeling frustrated.
As someone who is newly pregnant and just trying to find comfortable clothing, this experience was really disappointing. Everyone has rough days, but consistently treating customers with negativity isnât acceptable. If someone is that unhappy in their role, maybe itâs time to consider a change.
I hope management sees this and provides some coaching or support, because the rest of the store team (including the lovely woman earlier) made a great impression. One employee shouldnât ruin an otherwise...
Read moreI tried to return a pair of sneakers I bought a few days ago. Because I took the tags off they treated me almost as if I was a criminal. They told me the receipt I had was not the right one. I've shopped there once and that was definitely the right receipt! They couldn't find another pair that looked like the ones I bought, they have all kinds of random shoes on clearance so just because they couldn't find another pair they wouldn't let me return them. They could have treated me a little better. I work in retail I would never treat someone like a criminal for trying to return something. Maybe the should look at the person who checked me out if the receipt didn't match what I bought! I left there so angry and I don't think I'll be shopping there again. They need to have a better attitude toward their customers and maybe try to help...
Read moreA good TJ Maxx location. I spent 90$ more than I planned because of unexpected good finds. They're doing a decent job with COVID safety, too. They only let in under 150 people (on a sign walking-in, it said they can only let in 107 people at a time to this location), they clean register area/customer space after each person checks-out, all employees in masks (all customers were too) and other little sanitary protections like plastic on the credit/debit pad and plastic barriers between the register/staff and customers as well as plastic barriers between side-by-side customer areas....
