I trusted Red Cross to take care of their customers therefore I’ve always taken my CPR class with them since 2011.
This past Sunday 2/28 I had originally signed up a class that’s two parts, online and a zoom portion with a contracted provider, Gold Star Providers. However I have waited and waited for the instructions on how to pick up the equipment on Saturday, which did not deliver until 10pm. Note that the storage unit was an hour away, closed at 5pm and they sent up the pick up notice at 10pm the night before. Earlier that morning I went to the storage unit and try to find out more information because I could not get anyone from Gold Star to call me back and the storage unit manager told me that they were getting evicted from the property.
Since I could not get in touch of Gold Star, I have also called Red Cross to try to get some assistance in the matter. I was told that Red Cross has no part in this. Even though I got referred to them through Red Cross website, Red Cross cannot help me in any way and I was completely on my own in this matter. I was shocked and unsettled for two reasons. First reason is that Red Cross would deal with such an unprofessional company and risk their reputation with a vendor like that. Second reason is that the customer service at Red Cross said that they could not help a customer at all even though I have gotten a bad service through a vendor from their website.
It is without saying how disappointed I am with my experience. I hope no one will do business with Gold Star Providers anymore and modify their policy so they could offer some kind of rectification to a displeased customer. I would still stay Red Cross if the customer service representative offer me some kind of credit to any future class but they did not do anything at all. So unfortunately they have lost a customer and I will be letting all my friends and coworkers know not to deal with red...
Read moreIt's the American Red Cross, how could it rate anything less than 5 Stars! The work that the Red Cross does, I would guess has saved more lives than that of any other single organization in existence. In addition, the comfort and reassurance and the material support this organization affords people when they are at their most vulnerable and in their greatest need is invaluable and it's worth incalculable.
The class I took here, 'Basic Life Support, Automated External Defibrillator and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Healthcare Professional' (BLS for Healthcare and Public Safety) was great. It was taught by an off-duty EMT who was able to bridge the gap between the textbook and video training, and the real world application of these life saving skills. I have damage to my Ulnar nerve of my left arm, which makes it nearly impossible for me to interlace the fingers of my left hand with those of my right, which is the textbook way for them to be configured to do chest compressions. She was able to tell us the reason behind that (it better assures that you aren't applying pressure to the rib cage when the fingers are interlaced) and showed me two other ways to conjoin my hands without interlacing that were equally effective at applying compressions, when one is careful to make sure they aren't applying pressure to the rib cage. This course provides certification training for the use of CPR, AED, and clearing airway obstruction, on adults, children, and infants.
The building itself is easy to get to, and has a parking lot which is convenient and accessible. The facility is new and well maintained. I have nothing but praise for this organization in general and for those who work at this...
Read more0 stars if i could. My friend lost all due to a fire. The caseworker assigned to her was cold and heartless. She spent a weekend in her car w/ no gas, no shelter and ended up in the hospital. When she tried to get in touch with somebody to get some help from Arc. The caseworker lied and said she wasn't using the referrals given to her. NOT TRUE! I helped her check all referrals. There is absolutely no room in the shelters and there was no place that she could stay even for that weekend in the bitter cold. Their response was to close her case and that that she was given ample enough help. We all answer to somebody someday. I do think Arc needs to screen their volunteers a bit more. They also breach privacy. This caseworker thought it was okay to call and bother my friend's landlord. She was messaging her landlord ungodly hours. In the long run Arc did not help they hindered. They closed her more heartache and pain on top of what she endured with the fire. How sad. Heartless and cruel. I do understand why your reputation is as crappy as it is. I didn't want to believe it but now that somebody that I know has God through this for his hand, the world would be a better place without your kind of...
