I love this store so much. Been going here since I was a kid. Run by a Teochew family and the cashier's speak Cantonese and Mandarin dialect on top of English. I love their pink laminated signs, it's the only place I know that has english, vietnamese, and Chinese signs. Helps me as a Hoa kieu person with the tidbits I know from each language.

Came to buy some ground meat and saw someone left an open monster in with the meats. (To keep it cold?) When I mentioned this to the young man working he laughed in my face. I fail to see what is so funny about contaminating the food you are selling. Will NOT be coming back, do NOT recommend.

This is where local Asian restaurant owners shop daily during morning hours to pick fresh produce of the day. It’s no super market where produce is refrigerated and misted every few hours. Here one gets fresh pick from the boxes the produce is shipped in. Not all produce is of highest quality. Generally it’s hard to find fresh firm eggplant or peppers or cauliflower. Quality perhaps is not of grade A. Price do match the product quality.

Fresh mangoes and other fruits in season are reasonably priced. One can find a variety of produce that generally are not stocked in local grocery stores.

Worth a visit to explore? Yes, if one haven’t been here. It’s worth the time that generally gets rewarded by cost savings. All cashiers are friendly, prompt...

Hau Hau Market is one of the reasons I love living in the CID! Such a hidden gem! They have a large outdoor "farmers market" style produce section plus a superb selection of fresh and frozen meat and seafood inside. Everything is sold at wholesale prices, sometimes around 1/4 of the price of Uwajimaya down the road. I've always found their produce to be high quality and fun to pick through. If you're a creative chef, they often have things other nearby markets don't have.

I usually fill a reusable shopping bag with fresh vegetables, fruit, and produce for about $20 all-in, and I'm always stunned when I see the receipt. Nowhere else...

The main reason I come here is the price. I think this is the cheapest market you can find in international district. It is a good place to buy already packed goods like: shin ramen, coconut milk, dumpling doughs, sesame balls, etc. Shrimp is pretty good too. You can also buy most of the veggies and fruits, but the freshness and variety really depends on the day you come to shop, sometimes the have kiwi, strawberries, blueberries. There are no regular bananas. There are always white mushrooms for $2.99 that I buy. They do not have varieties of potatoes. Cashiers are pretty quite, but it is normal in Asian markets, so don’t be...
