This place is a hidden gem in the Little Saigon neighborhood of Seattle, with a large selection of tofu products and other Vietnamese food. Their fresh tofu pudding is my favorite, and comes with ginger syrup on the side so you can control the sweetness to your preference. Even with a large amount of drug and unhoused activity outside the store, the inside of the store is clean and modern.
Despite having a great selection of products, the employees often play games to try to squeeze more money out of people. It's infuriating. For example, yesterday I asked for a small container of eggplant and the woman behind the counter proceeded to grab the largest container she could find and rushed to fill it up before I could say "stop", and then she still added a few more heaping spoonfuls afterwards -- just adding to the per-pound price as we watched in disbelief. Prices often seem to be made up on the fly at the cash register and my receipt frequently has items combined or listed as "other" to obscure the price. Sometimes there are upsells that cost a lot more than they should. One time I think I was charged nearly $20 for two blocks of fresh tofu.
If you want the same product, but properly labeled priced consistently, just go to Hau Hau Market next door. Otherwise, if you choose to buy direct watch the prices for fairness and say something if you're overcharged. I truly wish the family running the store would label their foods and charge consistent prices so I could give them a 5...

Now I have been going here for the tofu but a friend told me to get their sandwiches. Wow. Freshly baked bread right here on the spot, fresh veggies but let's talk about the meat. I ordered the chicken and I asked for extra meat. They told me it was an extra dollar. Fine. Paid. I watched them as they put the sandwich together and I was a bit disappointed with the lack of meat! Even though I paid extra I barely got any! I tried to tell the two sandwich makers but they just kept talking to me in Vietnamese. Ummm I'm not Vietnamese so I couldn't understand them. So I paid another dollar to put more meat. Of course I didn't get extra meat. I tried to tell them this even grabbed one of the young ladies behind the counter. She too tried to tell them that I paid $2.00 extra for meat. They wouldn't have it. Now the lady behind me spoke in their native language and told them to put extra meat. And sure enough they obliged! I asked if she paid extra for meat and she said no and that you just ask! Are you kidding me!??!?
Let's just say the two ladies whom make the sandwiches AREN'T THE FRIENDLIEST.
Yes, I've gone back numerous times and same deal. The two ladies are still grumpy as ever.
If you don't speak the language watch out! People will cut in front of you, rip you off and I'm pretty sure people behind the counter will talk bad about you if you try to speak up. So watch out!
CUSTOMER SERVICE...
Read moreExtremely Rude and very unsanitized! I stopped by on a Saturday morning to grab my tofu and starting from the tofu picker to the cashier, it was a horrible experience. When it was my turn to pay, I asked: "How much is it"?. The cashier responded:"Just put it (the card) in." There were 5 people with their food lining up in front of me, so I cannot tell if they already paid or waiting for pick up since there is no sign. That was why I asked to make sure I paid for my order correctly to avoid wrong payment and if refund needed.
I am all for supporting local Viet business, but this one business seemed to see customers are their burden. The fact that they had a full house with lines getting to paid is a blessing, do not feel like customer is your burden because they are there to pay your check. I paid $10 for 20pcs of tofu and a tiny box of old, saggy sticky rice. I know some people will say "its only $10", what is the big deal?". It is a big deal if there is no Thanks. I don't just pay $10 to get (1) old quality food and (2) an extremely dissatisfying customer facing treatment. Well, I also know some will say if you dont like it then dont go there. I will definitely do that, but wanted to leave this review up here. TS Tofu started as a small family business that eager to see customers to a very fancy building that treated customers...
