What happened?!?!?
This was my go to for years. The food has gone downhill in quality and portion. Same family, completely different food.
Ordered a Carnitas quesadilla and a lengua taco plate plus 2 cokes, was $38.
I have to mention: I ordered 2 cokes in the bottle, received 2 cans instead. When I asked to get the bottles, I was told that “this is the new price for cokes.” Sooooo, either coke is now $4.50 per can or…I got gringo prices. I speak enough Spanish to know that the Latino guys behind me did NOT pay $4.50 per bottle. This was a helluva insult, when I’ve literally ordered $100’s of dollars of food from this same family. Like, you recognized me, then decided $9 for 2 cans…?!?!
My theory - this family is sick of this location, and sick of the problems that come with it. They know that they can keep raising prices (quesadilla is now 55% more expensive than 2 years ago, and half the size) and “if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” They serve half the transients and drug dealers in town, so it works. But as for us adoring fans… :-/
If you can get to it, my new favorite spot for authentic Mexican is Taquería El...
Read moreI will tell you right now - if you are looking for authentic Mexican food in Seattle, this is probably the only place to get it. Seattle has a lot of really good food, but when it comes to Mexican - it would be nice if it would just stop trying. HOWEVER!! This place is the one tiny little gem that Seattle has tucked away where you can get real Mexican food. AND it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. AND the service is fast and very friendly. AND it's a nice welcoming atmosphere - well, on their little patio area - it IS located in a rather unsavory area, but once you get through that to their patio, it's very nice. The lengua tacos are to die for. The salsa they have (both red and green) are authentic tasting and hot without burning your face off. Something gets lost in the flavor when the spice is too spicy - but theirs is not. Honestly, I won't even go to any place else in Seattle if I'm looking for Mexican food. This...
Read moreThis place was recommended to me by a OneWheel rider that visits this place regularly. I ordered the burrito plate with Carnitas and man was it delicious. My stomach was right full with all that meaty goodness. I recommend it. If I'm ever in the area, I will definitely go back. This place has quick service, average pricing (for Seattle) and enough food to actually fill you up. No more spending $15 for a small boat of food only half full. Here you get full portion meals you would expect from a dine in restaurant. I wouldn't recommend a cross country trip to visit this spot, but if you are in Seattle and craving some tasty authentic Mexican food,...
