I've attended dozens of classes at the Cycle Sanctuary over the past year and thought I had found a great workout community but was severely disappointed about the studio's response after I sustained a back injury at their Strength/weightlifting HIIT class. It's important to note that the strength classes are 45 minutes long and have no warmup for the weightlifting movements. I've attended multiple other strength and HIIT classes other gyms and this is the first time I've ever experienced a strength workout that asks you to lift anything from 5 to 45 lb weights and beyond with no warmup or practice on movements like deadlifts, thrusters, etc.
After one of these classes, I suffered a back injury that was persistent across multiple weeks and realized I needed to take a step back from working out. At the same time, I had 5 classes left on my pass and was moving out of the country in a matter of weeks and knew I wouldn't be able to finish out the class pack while giving myself the time I needed to recover. When I reached out to ask for a refund given I wouldn't be able to use the rest of my pack, the owner refused, despite acknowledging that the strength classes I attended did not warm up any of the weightlifting movements. At this point, I'm super disappointed because not only has the injury set me back weeks in being able to have full mobility, it also stopped me from enjoying many other parts of my life - I have had to take steps back from other activities I love just weeks before I was moving away. I've spent a year attending classes here - I'm shocked about the callous response I've received about the impact this injury has had to my life, after all the time and money I've spent attending classes here. I wouldn't recommend this studio if you're looking for a place that cares about your total wellbeing or cares at all about safe...
Read moreI started working with Stacy on my Nutrition about a year ago. Investing in a Nutrition Plan had never crossed my mind because I thought I knew most everything. Overall, I did have a solid base decent eating habits. But something was off. I didnât realize I wasnât feeling 100% until my body had enough and basically revolted.
I mentioned to Stacy what was happening and that I was interested to talk and see what her program was about. After talking for a bit, she recommended a month of ââŚletâs just try it and seeâŚâ. I did. Stacyâs approach is holistic; itâs not just about eating. She is guiding you to take care of your whole self. There was never pressure; there was never judgement or heavy handed, strict deprivation or exercise regimes. Instead, you get positivity, encouragement and practical information. She is/was always available to listen and offer suggestions that fit my lifestyle. I felt a change almost immediately. I slept better, had more energy throughout the day, and was able to manage through long stressful workdays without caving to stress cravings. The next thing I knew a month was over, I felt great and was 10lbs less. Weight loss necessarily my main objective! I continued another couple months.
Itâs been almost a year since that first conversation and without realizing it, the approach I learned from Stacy is still with me. I never stress about whether or not I have âcheatedâ. If I do deviate from my basic routine, itâs so easy to get back to it and feel back to the way I like â great. If I feel like I need a refresh and Stacy's guidance, I will gladly...
