Staff members have consistently been super helpful to me and my senior mom, even when busy. One day I was waiting in line for the copy machine and a child who was visiting the library with their mom was hitting their threshold for being out and about… (relatable!) Two team members swooped in with appropriately spaced timing — the first one helped mom, who had her hands more than full and the second brought over some stickers for the kiddo to choose from, which worked like a calming charm! I notice commenters sometimes gripe about homeless people using/being around the building, to which I invite consideration that public libraries are often one of the only remaining places for folks to have bathroom and internet/computer access without buying something or paying fees they can’t afford. Any of us living in Seattle are currently contributing to urban gentrification and are complicit in displacing people without meaningful resources. So maybe chill… Thank you to all library staff and volunteers! We need you and the community space you tend now...
Read moreThe Ballard branch is very nice every time I have been there. Clean and quiet, but depending on when you go it can be busy if you're trying to get a private room when you need the extra level of undisturbed work.
Staff were really helpful when I was initially setting up my membership with the Public Library Network and answered every question I had. Of course they're always helpful with finding books I'm looking for. The main reason I signed up was the ability to check out books and access to the online free class library on Lynda and they helped me set everything up.
The only thing that has been slightly off-putting so far has been the homeless that are occasionally outside the library being aggressive or loud to people coming in and out, but they're not outside all the time and there's only so much you can do to prevent them from loitering around a...
Read moreFor Thursday event at 3pm to 4pm theirs huge issue I have if they are going to hold event that involves donated food to be given out on tables and by hand to people attending this their should be no judgement on how much food people get... whether people show up late or not .. people should freely go get handed out snacks and that's that ...but no I have a friend that is being harassed by a another lady because she feels she's taking too much...it's donated food for crying out loud ...if employees are going to call out that others are getting more food then others stop passing it out or putting it on table it's their to eat and...
