Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Nestled in the heart of Ballard, Hot Cakes is a hidden gem that exudes a cozy and warm ambiance. Located in the beautiful downtown area, this charming dessert spot embraces a small-town vibe while offering indulgent treats that will satisfy any sweet tooth. During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying their Dark Decadence, Strawberry Molten Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a comforting cup of black coffee. Hot Cakes truly exceeded my expectations, and their molten cakes were an absolute delight.
Let's begin with the star of the show—the molten cakes. The Dark Decadence was a chocolate lover's dream come true. The cake was beautifully dense and rich, with a luscious center that oozed velvety dark chocolate. Each bite was pure indulgence, and the intense chocolate flavor lingered on the palate in the most delightful way. The molten cakes were served with a side of vanilla ice cream, which added a cool and creamy contrast, and the option to choose your own jam took the experience to another level of personalization.
The cozy and inviting atmosphere at Hot Cakes further enhanced the overall dining experience. The establishment's intimate setting, combined with its warm decor, made it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a moment of indulgence. Whether you're seeking a cozy spot for a date night or a place to relax with friends, Hot Cakes offers a welcoming ambiance that makes you feel right at home.
In addition to the molten cakes, Hot Cakes also impressed me with their Chocolate Chip Cookie. This classic treat was perfectly baked, boasting a golden-brown exterior with a soft and gooey center. The generous amount of chocolate chips provided a burst of sweetness in every bite, making it an irresistible companion to my cup of black coffee. Speaking of which, the coffee was a comforting addition to the dessert experience, offering a rich and robust flavor that complemented the sweet treats perfectly.
In conclusion, Hot Cakes in Ballard, WA, is a must-visit destination for dessert enthusiasts seeking a cozy and indulgent experience. The molten cakes, with their dense and decadent chocolate, are a true highlight. The option to customize with ice cream and jam adds a personal touch to the already delightful treat. The warm and inviting atmosphere, coupled with the friendly service, create an unforgettable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Hot Cakes and give it a well-deserved...

This establishment serves molten dishes, cake, cookies, ice cream and milkshakes.
The caramel sauces they have here are very creative but we did not like any of them. We tried the Sage, campfire, juniper berry, vegan, and scotch whiskey caramels.
Husband and I tried the warmed peanut butter cookie with ice cream and caramel on top and it was the best tasting dessert I've ever had. So many flavors and very sweet. With that said, I think next time I come here me and the husband will split it into 4ths because afterwards we felt so sick from all of the sugar. This is definitely not a place for those who want to indulge here regularly. So delicious, but so bad for your health. Really wish that they would cut down on the sugar. I've never felt so sick from sugar before. Whatever caramel that was on top of our ice cream was fanatic.
Our daughter had the peanut butter cup molten lava, hers came with ice cream and caramel on the side, she loved that but she did not like the molten. The husband and I also tried the molten and did not like it either.
The person who helped us said that the most ordered things there are the warm cookie with ice cream and the double chocolate molten. Maybe we didn't like the peanut butter cup molten because of the caramel. I think next time if we come back and want to try a molten, we will try the double chocolate one. Will definitely be back for a cookie with ice cream a couple...

The last ten years have produced a dessert renaissance in Seattle, and nowhere is this more true than in my neighborhood of choice, the boutique-dessert capitol of Capitol Hill.
There’s Molly Moon’s, Salt & Straw, Cupcake Royale, Kurt Farm Shop, Cinnaholic, Hello Robin, Sugar Plum, Menchie’s, Nouveau, R & M, Frankie & Jo’s, and Crumble & Flake. That’s more ampersands than I’m comfortable typing, and it doesn’t even include the shops that didn’t make it.
Or Hot Cakes. In a crowded Seattle field, nothing screams #treatyoself like this gem. It’s molten cakes paired with ice creams, smoked chocolate and boozy shakes, homemade s’mores and cookie sundaes. It’s expensive and celebratory and it’s the best dessert around.
Pro tips: Sample the smoked chocolate chips at the retail counter before buying because the taste is unique and dividing. Don’t miss the Butterbeer, a warm and heavenly creamy cocktail that tastes almost nothing like you’d expect. Skip the crowds! Visit Sunday through Thursday when the lines are shorter and you don’t have to play vulture to...
