**Update - just saw the response from the owner and the response has nothing to do with how I was treated. Literally NO ONE AT THE FRONT DESK paid me any mind except to say “please go to the app and sign up” so I wasn’t told about any fees.
It was my understanding that planet fitness is a no contract no commitment gym, hence why I decided to change gyms from the previous one I was going to.
If a front desk person would have paid me any mind I would have been able to get clarification and ask more questions and make my final decision from there. However, they were “too busy” to pay me any mind. Worst customer service!

Just went in to cancel only to find out I was in a 12-month commitment and had to pay a $58 buyout!? I wasn’t told I would be in a commitment when I signed up.
The guy at the desk only said to go on the app and get signed up but didn’t give me any details. The lady at the front desk this time was awesome and very informative and I wish I had her when I was signing up. She said that things change month to month and this month (Sept) they’re in a non-commitment time.
How was I supposed to know that the month I signed up was a commitment month? Giving this a bad review because the staff when I signed up was no help, they didn’t even pay me any mind, they just told me to sign up on the app, and let me go on my way. Poor...
Read moreI am a current member and have been for about 9 months now. That's long enough, I feel, to give a balanced review. Pros: -Their facility is always clean There are showers and locker rooms ... always clean and in working condition. repairs are done in a timely manner. None of the members that attend (nor those who work there) really do not judge from my experience. I love seeing the variety of people that attend. There's plenty of aerobic machines. I've never seen them all being used at once. There's a wide variety of weight lifting machines and other workouts equipment. Cons: you do have to wait for some workout machines. The chest/back fly machine often has a wait time. You won't see a line, but you can clearly see others sitting on other machines waiting to use it. One day, I waited 20 minutes for one person to finish before I could use it. It's their only machine that isolates the pectoral muscles. They've eliminated the in-house trainer that planet fitness as a whole advertises. This really bothered me as I took full advantage of the person and signed up for classes too. I guess if this is a deal breaker, maybe consider Vasa Fitness? Overall, not bad. The widefield area, I think, really needed this in the area. It's good enough for me to stick with them for now. Should a competitor come in with classes and a trainer, I'll definitely go to...
Read moreI like this location because they are open all hours and fairly convenient to me. I also appreciate Planet Fitness' commitment to cleanliness [although oftentimes the showers are broken or dirty] . However, no matter when I go in and no matter what machine I'm on, the redheaded boy with the glasses that is part of their cleaning staff comes to vaccuum as close as he can get to me [for an inordinantly long time on a single machine, even coming back for seconds]. This may be purely coincidental, or maybe he's just trying to make the place nice for me, but his constant grimace and avoidance of any eye contact and inability to see or hear my disturbance makes it feel like he wants me to choke on the dust, which I do indeed.
Now, I personally look for a challenge in my workouts, but honestly, this sort of thing can make weaker people quit. I feel like it would be super if the staff understood to clean areas where people are not exerting themselves in when possible, or vaccuum at night when its almost empty [for example]. A lot of young men gravitate to me, so I get it. But I'd prefer breathing room. Also, the reason I didnt talk to the manager about it is that he previously lectured me as to how I should behave as a customer [lotta that these days] and I frankly dont need a debate on...
