4/28/25 I brought my 2012 Jeep Patriot in this time because the thermostat light was on and the day before the coolant reservoir was empty. The alarm bell for the thermostat was ringing. I was in Security Widefield stopped next door at the 7-11 to get coolant to refill the reservoir. I filled it up, drove home slowly and let the car cool off. We put more coolant in, then called on Monday 4/28/25. We didn't have to worry about getting around because we got a new vehicle last May 2024. They had a technician assess the car, and a new system was mentioned. I got the assessments by text. The new system shows you pictures the technician takes of the areas on your car of concern and that is very different than the previous one which showed everything verbally. I found it more helpful to have pictures of the areas to be fixed. There is also a color system. Green indicates no problem found. Yellow indicates things found that can wait to be fixed. Red indicates things that must be taken care of immediately. Of course as the customer you can choose what to fix but this is very clearly laid out. Then you get the estimates of what has to be done and can select the things to be done by checking the green box on the estimate. Orange box or not selected means you are putting off that work.
We selected to replace the water pump, to have a coolant system flush since the car never had it done since we've owned it. We selected to repair the front brakes with new pads and rotors. Any warning lights were turned off and the car drives like a dream. I had noticed the brakes did squeak for a bit but because I don't drive it every day I had put that off. There is an issue with an exhaust pipe near the front and a picture of it. This shop doesn't do exhaust repairs. But that picture is handy to show the place you choose that you had this pointed out. So kudos again to Auto Tech Plaza for their improved system of assessments. And the great work they do!
6/2024 A couple of weeks ago I took my car in for an alignment and on the way, I noticed the throttle light come on and the car lose power going up hill from a stop. The alignment was completed but had to take it back because the throttle light issue was dangerous. I got the vehicle in, the counter tech Sierra had me drive her in the car as I had no other way to get back home. I showed her the conditions where the throttle light came on She took the car back to the shop and showed a mechanic there what happened by recreating the conditions of going from a slight hill at a stop to drive so they would see what was going on. They did a diagnostic and there was a condition caused when we had a brake cable replaced a couple of years ago. something wasn't reconnected causing this thing to happen. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in to Auto Tech Plaza in November to get a change of spark plugs on our 2012 Jeep Patriot. The counter attendant was very knowledgeable and we talked about cars from before the 1980's. I got scheduled and after the initial inspection, I was recommended to do a cleaning of the fuel injectors too. I knew that our car had not had these services before when we bought it and from talking with the person at the counter and watching the videos I realized as consumers we take out cars for granted and they need more attention than we realize as we are not mechanics.
I've said this before in life that there are all kinds of genius that we have, emotional genius, intellectual genius, etc., but no one things of mechanical genius and most of us do not have that talent who drive cars. That is how we get mechanics and master mechanics and they are the experts we rely on to keep our cars in shape for our use. I said yes to the fuel injection clean out and left the store to wait while the services were being done. When I returned the car was finished. It was running like it was a much newer car after those services. Please listen to the mechanics who know more than most of us about our cars. And if you have the money to get maintenance work done, do it before things will get much more expensive. If you have to do some now then wait until you can afford it do that. You will have peace of mind!
Update I went to Auto Tech Plaza on April 2, 2024 to have an alignment done to this same car. I made the appointment on 4/1/2024. I brought the Jeep in. They did an inspection of the area for the alignment to make sure it was possible before doing the alignment. That was a great recommendation! After the inspection proved that it was possible, the mechanic worked and got the Jeep aligned! It drives 100% better with the alignment taken care of. It feels safer on the road! If I could give these folks a 0 star rating I would. My car was stolen with the keys in it from this shop. The negligence costed me a great penny. Although their insurance paid my loan off, I still went through the hardship of not having a vehicle because they decided to leave my key in the car and have it parked outside. They lied and said my vehicle was parked in the last bay when video evident proved them wrong. They played games on when my car would be ready, it was there for a simple fix. After one of their mechanics test drove my car he got it stuck in 1st gear, causing the car to be there longer. Even the details and description of my vehicle that they gave to the police were wrong. Iād think twice before trusting these people with your vehicle if it is worth any great value to you. I also NEVER received a direct apology from the shop owner. Instead he called the police on me when I arrived to the shop and to confront him about my car being stolen with the keys in it ( I had all rights to be upset and never got physical with anyone).
