Very disappointed with my sales experience with Merchant Autos and Travis Hogan in particular. We live about 4 hours from the dealership, so I was relying on Travis to provide enough information to at least make a decision to come look at the car if not buy it outright unseen and have it shipped.
I contacted Travis on August 22nd 2023 about a 2019 Audi A8. I asked him specifically about any damages the car might have (scratches, dents, etc) or any other issues. He ensured me there were no issues with it and that it was pristine. I put down a $500 deposit on the car to hold it.
We asked for a virtual tour of the car and he agreed to set it up. On the day of that tour, he sent me a picture showing that someone had keyed the car all the way down the side. His comment accompanying the picture was "I also didn’t see this the other day when it came in. It looks like an angry gf or someone keyed the car. That’s all I seen bad. Everything else is immaculate". Obviously, this was unacceptable and I asked for my money back. He agreed and that was the right thing to do and he would get that done right away. A couple of days later, he contacted me to ask if they were to re-paint it, would we still be interested. I told him we would talk to him about it after agreeing to a discounted price due to the damage and a virtual tour. I still wanted my refund, however.
As I type this, on September 1st 2023, I still have not received my refund. I have been in contact with the Sales Manager, Stephen Park, who hopefully will take care of it.
To top it all off, when I called Stephen to tell me about the issue, he let me know that the car had sold the day before despite my $500 deposit! So, whomever did buy the 2019 Audi A8 listed at Merchants, you have a re-painted car. Hopefully, you were told...
Read moreI cant say that they mistreated me here as you have to be acknowledged in the first place in order to be mistreated. I can see why this dealership has a 1 star review, I like the others would probably have given it less if possible. Unlike another reviewer, I guess I got lucky and didn't make a purchase from this place.
I am in the market for a Honda CRV and was traveling to visit my mom and decided why not give my childhood dealership in the small town a shot. Big mistake. I arrived around 4PM, hopped out of my car, and began walking the lot. After about 20 minutes on one side of the lot, I thought hmmmm, that's strange. Not one salesman has even come out to greet me or say hi. Maybe their closed, no I look inside and there are people walking around and there are folks in the service center. So I walk to the other side of the lot and continue looking and taking pictures, and 30 minutes later, I'm still just out on the lot alone as no one has said hello, hi, can I help you or even given a distant wave.
So after almost an hour I go to my car and I'm sitting on the phone telling what just happened and asking is this how dealers sell cars now? Out walk 3 people, we make eye contact, and they keep walking, and I closed my car door and drove away, I was done
Maybe this is a post covid thing, and dealerships let you do all the work, and you just write them a check and stick it under the door and they toss you the keys through a door slot, and you drive off. I'll be going to my local dealership back home on Monday and buying the CRV that I came here...
Read moreMy wife and I had a crash and were in need of a new vehicle. We had been looking for a new van and saw that Merchant Honda had a 2019 Odyssey for sale for a good price. We went to the dealership and bought the van. We knew that it smelled like smoke from the beginning but two different salesmen told us we would be able to get the smoke smell out. We drove it home and have tried several different things to get the smell out. On top of the awful smell, the gas cap is broken (which we didn't know about until we tried to fill up for the first time), which means the left electric sliding door won't always open! And you can't open it manually, it has to be electric! Additionally, on our first drive home something started rumbling on the front passenger side near the tire. Still don't know what that is, but it doesn't sound good. They also said it had 4 new tires, but upon closer inspection of the carfax, two have been used already for 30,000 miles.
Overall, they were polite when we bought the car (obviously, they wanted to make a sale). But after stringing us along for a week when we call them everyday asking for a refund, they say they will call us back but they never do, and they won't let us return the vehicle. NOT AN HONEST DEALER. The car had several problems, one we knew about (and they said we could fix it, but we havent been able to), and others we didn't know about.
Don't buy from here. Not an honest dealer...
