Shinola Shaker Heights Store — Local services in Shaker Heights

My husband and I randomly found Van Aken market en route to Michigan. We're big fans of Shinola to begin with, but would always make our purchases at one of the local Detroit stores. We were so impressed with this location - the store is beautiful, clean, and fully stocked always. We've since made it a go to stop every time we travel to Michigan. Marci and Michael, two of the stores managers, are the best of the best. Countless times they've gone out of their way to have our merchandise monogrammed, shipped to us, and simply have ensured we're always taken care of. They've even gone out of their way to help us with local recommendations, etc. Marci and Michael are true professionals - huge shout out to them both for treating every customer like a VIP no matter how big or small...

The store salesperson was helpful in identifying the band I needed to replace the one that “wore out” for my Shinola Argonite-1069 watch. When she presented the bill (after I had put the new band on my wrist), I was flabbergasted when she said $125.00. I thought she was kidding. I told her there are comparable bands on Amazon, et al ( there are several) for @$30.00 or less. She said she knew and if I wanted I could “return” the band. So, fellow watch lovers. Spend $700 for the watch, and know that your investment includes planned obsolescence on bands and that you’ll be paying what I call consider to be an egregious if not bald ripoff. Next watch I purchase will NOT be a Shinola. And ironically is was going to look at another far more expensive Shinola model. Onward to...

Popped into the store while at Van Aken for a few other things as I love the brand and had been happy with previous purchases. Olivia B was absolutely fantastic throughout the process of buying and fitting a watch but also ordering in some pieces of fine jewelry I was looking to purchase as a gift but wanted to see first. She spent plenty of time with me talking through my options and was super communicative in person and via email throughout the whole process. I have three watches from Shinola and am super happy with each one. If you stop by, all the sales staff are super helpful, fun, personable, and knowledgeable - especially Olivia! Worth the trip and looking forward to working with them again...
