UPDATE It’s 12/11/18. After having replaced initial broken part, I return to the store same day before close because a long, rectangular section that runs perpendicularly to my head when laying down on the matress doesn’t line up with instructions. The part doesn’t fit flush with the head board and the contents don’t add up either. For example, the instructions call for 9 screws to hold this piece in place (3 on each side vertically, 3 across the top horizontally) with the 9th to be screwed in top center, but the board has only 8 prefab holes for screws with 4 to be screwed in across the top horizontally. The store manager’s attitude (Adam is his name) is basically that this is just the way it is and that he hopes I’ll go to the Slumberland website and complain separately about the piece and not about the store. No. I am complaining about both. Quality does not associate with poor quality. While roling to my side last night, this horizontal board broke off of its connection. I am beside myself. I don’t have the time, money or inclination to waste another minute on this time vampire. I will never again do business with Slumberland and to the extent that it is in my control no one else I can influence will either.
UPDATE As of 12/6/18 I have revised my review from one to 4 stars. Management has replaced the broken piece in a relatively timely manner. That is all I really wanted but additionally they credited me $25.00 to compensate for time and gas which is greatly appreciated.
Right out of the box a load baring piece is broken. So now my fiancé and I are forced to sleep in the basement full bed for God knows how long before we can sort this mess out. Find out there’s only a 5 day window for a return due to delivery or manufacture error so you had better assemble RIGHT AWAY. Store Manager who can potentially override this policy isn’t in for another two days. All of this after waiting almost 60 days for delivey, paying $2k to have the plumbing fixed and while planning a wedding. 5 days, that’s how much tim you’ll have. How much time will this suck out of my day at work over the next several days being on the phone with people who couldn’t do it right the first time? How much stress and anxiety? I’d rather they simply stole a thousand dollars from me. It would literally be less stressful. Now I’m out the money and I have a bed frame I cannot use. They had one job - I have like 10. Why is it any time I make a substantial purchase the product or service...
Read moreUpdate from September 2020: My family decided to spend the money to purchase new furniture for our main level living area. We purchased a new couch and had the Slumberland team deliver/set-up the furniture. It arrived with significant damage. We assumed the damage may have happened in transport so the next item (table and chairs) we purchased & got straight from the box. Their manufacturers must really have no quality control, as the next item was damaged when we opened the box! We are very disappointed as the couch was an $1800 purchase and the table set was $1600! We would have expected this with cheapo furniture, but not with these prices. We are very disappointed in our purchases.
Date of Visit: 10/7/2018 approximately 12:30PM - Was significantly less than impressed with our experience at this Slumberland location. Approximately three years ago, my mother had furnished her entire house (living room, bedrooms, and dining room) with Slumberland furniture from the Bloomington location. She had a lovely experience and she highly recommended Slumberland. On our visit today to the Shakopee location, we were greeted by Adam (I'm fairly certain that was his name), who answered incredibly condescendingly when we inquired about deals in the store. We quickly glanced around the store and decided to leave for three reasons - 1.) Ashley/Furniture Mart across the highway was having a 38% off special whereas Slumberland was only having a 20% off special for Columbus Day weekend, 2.) our interaction with Adam at Slumberland was NOT inviting, and 3.) we had previously been at Ashley/Furniture Mart and found a bedroom set we liked, then found an almost identical bedroom set at Slumberland, but Slumberland's was almost $800-$1000 more! We ended up going back across the highway to Ashley/Furniture Mart and bought a full bedroom set, mattress/box spring, dining set, and buffet.
Moral of the Story: Salesman (and prices) make or...
Read moreDo NOT go to Slumberland to purchase furniture. This company is so screwed up! This is the second time we have worked with Slumberland and the second time they have screwed it up. Here's the chain of events this time...wrong piece of furniture delivered, bill started coming before the correct furniture was even delivered, and the store was chaotic and disorganized to try and get it taken care of, which they did not (the bill, anyway).
We are currently waiting for the correct furniture to be delivered. The store manager said she would send us a gift certificate for our trouble. She sent us a "get $25 off if you spend $75--not for use on sale or clearance items." Really? That's not a gift certificate, that's a $50 shopping trip.
Next, waiting for the correct furniture. The sales manager said, "Don't worry, I will take care of you." Call #1, "your furniture will be delivered Thursday, you will get a call the Tuesday before to reserve a 2-hr time slot." Call #2 "on Tuesday, your furniture will be delivered on Thursday." Me--What about the 2-hr time slot? Them--I can't reserve that for you. Me--Why are you calling me and why did the previous gentleman say that you could. Them--I don't know why they said that. You will have to call this number on Thursday morning to reserve the 2-hr time slot.
I said no thank you and called the store directly to talk to the store manager who was "going to take care of us." Them--Oh, she's not in today. Me--Is there anyone else there who can help us out and make decisions. Them--No, that's really just the store manager.
Sorry, Slumberland, I'm not buying furniture from you ever again, and I'll be giving my gift certificate to someone I don't like very much. Please get...
