ICG Hobbies & Games — Local services in Sharon

To preface, I had never been to this store, know none of the people who work there.

Today they were hosting a magic regional championship qualifier. I’m close to Pittsburgh and had to travel about an hour to Sharon. Prior to leaving my area I call the game store and say that I may be 5-10 minutes late, can I still get into the event? The employee who answered the phone said sure no problem. I again call 10 minutes from my arrival to the store, which would be 12:07 (start time 12:00). He seems to confirm “all good”. I walk into the store and some employee tells me the magic event has already begun. I’m flabbergasted. I speak to the guy who answered the phone and the head judge. Apparently, there’s nothing they can do for me other than to take a round 1 loss if I want to play the event (a detrimental handicap to these type of small card game tournaments). This type of interaction and situation / result has never occurred to me at any other local game store. A complete stranger to me seemingly took some sort of malicious action towards me, communicating that I’d be able to play the event normally, but then flipping the script once I had driven an hour to their game store?

Needless to say, my experience was an F grade level for their customer service and won’t be returning. I’d recommend any other game store...

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE I stopped by ICG yesterday and just had to write a quick review on the experience.

First and foremost, I'm fairly new to the magic the gathering scene. My boyfriend loves the game and I figured that it would be a nice valentines day gift to pick him up a few packs, and would just have to enlist the help of one of the employees to help me make some good picks, since I wasn't all too sure what to get him.

When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by an employee who I believe was named Cooper (please correct me if I'm wrong- I believe her official title was regarding social media management/media marketing). She was so polite and kind. I explained what I was trying to do. I was admittedly nervous, but Cooper was extremely knowledgeable, and really helped guide me. She was very understanding, and so amazingly personable. It really made the trip a fantastic experience. I 100% recommend ICG.

Amazing selection of products – such as various card game packs and singles; books; dice; collector decor; terrain-building supplies; and miniatures: singles, packs, theme sets, and a whole bin of bits and pieces for you to pick and choose to complete your own designs! There's also a separate room for gameplay.

I'm originally from the area, but had moved some years back — stopped by this place while back in town. There are plenty of hobby shops and game stores near where I'm currently living, but none have the same combination of variety, space, and pricing that this place has! (The staff is friendly and helpful, too)

I'll definitely be back every time...
