Unfortunately, we will not return to Shelby's movie theater after our visit on 11/29. I was disappointed to find the theater in its current state after nearly exclusively going there in the past. It was cold inside the building and even colder in the theater rooms; however, the bathrooms were oddly very warm. Menu items were not available - mostly surprisingly their drink machines were not working. We were offered a bottle of water that we paid for that was warm when it was handed to us. The inside of the theater was very dirty. We were told to wait outside of the theater room for approximately. 5-10 minutes, when they let us in, there was someone in there, but the room was still left in disarray with literal bags of popcorn from the previous showing obviously left out in the main aisle. I am not sure how this was missed. The chairs were not the comfiest, stained and fabric tattered on some of them. As previously stated, the rooms were icebergs, so everyone was cold for a nearly three-hour movie. The quality of the movie was subpar, with my basic TV at home having better-quality pixels. I am very disappointed with the state of Shelby's theater, and I do not plan on returning or encouraging others to visit. We will be going to Spartanburg or Hendersonville...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was traveling from out-of-state. I'm used to AMC having the full-recliner seats, so was caught a little off=guard that it wasn't the case here. (Neither did you have to pre-select seats). However, that was very minor. The lobby was clean and pleasant, consessions were the high end I'm used to, and the seats were comfortable! Additionally... the theater was evacuated, for a fire alarm. (Apparently, kids vaping in the bathroom set off a detector.) This was handled so professoinally: The lights above the alarm flashed, as the house-lights came up in our auditorium. (No audio-alarm to raise anxiety or cause panic.) The staff (VERY calmly) made sure everyone got outside and away from the building. The fire department arrived with their heat-guns, and confirmed the all-clear, after which we were told our movies had been paused (the one my party was seeing hadn't started yet, so we were lucky), and would be backed up slightly and re-started once everyone was back in. Refunds or return tickets were offered to any who wanted them. While the need to evac was beyond the theater's control, I have nothing but praise for how they handled the situation. If I'm ever in the area, will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYeah, I think I'd rather drive to Asheville and enjoy a movie there. Tried a 3d movie, didn't work. Something was wrong with it to the point where another guy near us kept adjusting his glasses like his weren't working either. To both of us, the images would be okay for a second and then blur really bad again. I can't enjoy a movie like that. We went to try and get a refund about 5 mins into the movie and found out that they weren't able to issue a refund due to the way the ticket person ripped our ticket. He ripped through the QR code and because of that can't issue a refund. We chose to go back to a regular version of the movie, but the experience already was busted having already ordered candy and popcorn for the first viewing, we weren't able to bring our food back with us to enjoy. Will be choosing another place due to the way one of the staff said that's the way 3d movies are, 35 and seen quite a few 3d movies and none of them were like this. No wonder it was dead when we went...
