Plenty of Bikes — Local services in Signal Hill

I don't really understand what Christian is talking about in terms of being a shady business because Jon at Plenty of Bikes is one of the most amazing and passionate bike shop owners I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I have been to over 30+ bicycle shops in the past 12+ years of cycling ranging from New York to SF to the LA/OC area. He has an amazing knowledge of a variety of bikes in all categories from the high end road bikes all the way down to kids bikes and can order almost anything with a reasonably prices which most or almost all shops can't really compete with in my personal opinion. He's helped me out over the years with many of my bikes whenever I had a specific question about any part of the bike he always had the most honest and straight forward answer without trying to make it sound like his shop was the only one that could fix the issues. I bought my first 'nice' road bike here over 5+ years ago and couldn't be happier on how well it still rides today and have been a returning customer throughout the years customizing my riding styles both road&fixed. At the end of the day my experience with Plenty of Bikes as a long time customer has been amazing and I cannot stress how much you will not be disappointed...

I went in after seeing some posts on Craigslist and was not disappointed. I think it’s important to provide feedback that is comprehensive so I will get the small things out first, prices were great, selection was great, and John keeps his website up to date. Now here is the important part, John explained to me what was available in my budget, allowed me to test ride and then even explained what made the bikes better with bike prices/models. Not only that, once I bought the bike he accommodated my relocation and when my wife went to pick it up, he even helped her load it into her SUV.

Bottom line, he cares, is passionate and wants people to share his joy in cycling and he even provided the assembly and tuning others charge $100+ for with the price. Do business here, support a business owner that takes pride.

I called one Long Beach bicycle shop that never answered the phone, and a second that transferred me from one answering machine to another without ever connecting me to an actual human being. My third call was to Plenty of Bikes, where Jon was kind enough to bother picking up the phone. I explained the problem I was having putting together a fold-up bike I purchased online, and Jon gave me an estimate for what it would cost for me to have him finish the job. When I got to the shop, Jon assembled the hand brakes in accordance with the very reasonable estimate he gave me when I called the day before, plus he reversed the handlebars I had inserted backwards, and tightened the seat, which needed to be set more securely, all at no extra charge.
