Rossmoor Pastries — Restaurant in Signal Hill

I’ve used Rossmoor Bakery since they were located in Seal Beach. So I really know how delicious they’re cakes and pastries are. Even all my family and friends loved their cakes. But on June 9th I went in to order a half sheet cake just exactly like the one I bought in December of last year, only 6 months ago. In December 2021 I paid $150 and now they want $275.00 my mouth dropped. The girl that helped me was a little rude, I believe she said she was the manager. I asked her why the big jump in price, well Rossmoor has new owners, and everything is expensive. If I just bought the cake with no decorations it would be $150, I asked what would it be with decorations $275. I told her your going to charge me $125.00 for decorating my cake, she said yes, so I said I’ll bring you the decorations and could you please at least put her name on it. I also asked for the dark chocolate cake with chocolate shavings in the chocolate mousse and less sugar in the frosting, this is exactly what I ordered in December 2021 with no problems. But now it’s a different story, the manager said we don’t have dark chocolate only chocolate and no shavings and we only have one type of butter frosting. So I asked her about the chocolate shavings she said for $65.00 they’ll add it to the mousse. So my cake came to $215.00, no decorations. Wedding on 7/11/21

Our cake was included with our wedding venue package. We couldn’t have been more thrilled that it was done by Rossmoor Pastries!

Tasting: Jeff and I chose from a menu of flavors of cake and filling/frosting. Because of COVID, we couldn’t do an in-person tasting, but we actually had so much fun taking the box to go and eating it right outside! It made the experience less pressure-filled by just being the two of us. Six mini-cakes were included but additional flavor options were only $3 more so we chose two additional flavors. We ended up choosing the white cake and chocolate cake, both with raspberry filling inside. It was delicious!

Communication: The staff at Rossmoor were prompt and professional in their emails with me, and always answered questions in a timely manner.

Design/Final Product: They have a large variety of cake designs on their website to preview, which made the decision process easy. When we wanted to change the ribbon color on the cake, they sent me a photo with different options. The final product was STUNNING! Simple and elegant, and our florist was able to put fresh flowers on the cake.

I truly enjoyed working with Rossmoor and recommend them to future couples...

First of all the one star is for the clean place it's not so cluttered like it was before. Rossmoor does not get a rating in regards to service. I was in there today around 1235 or so, this sassy guy with a hair net told me I could not get my cake ordered the way I wanted it. I explained to him I just wanted a. Chocolate cake with ganache icing. I could not have that so I said fine chocolate moose for the fiiling, and I only wanted it on one layer. Well I could not do that he said. Why? He went to ask some female in the other room and he came back with no we can't.. I explained to him that he was not paying for it nor was he going to eat it nor was he paying extra for the ganache? So I went to the other side and asked the same girl he did. She said if we do that your cake will look like this holding up her thumb and index to show me how much cake I was getting. And !!!!! They at ROSSMOOR are not eating or paying for it! I told her that it was stupid and you will lose business that way. She tells me she has been there 3yrs.
