Went in today for a color and cut. Spoke with them on the phone multiple times in advance regarding what I wanted. Got to the salon about 10 to 15 minutes before my 1:00 pm appointment. Was told the stylist was running about 30 minutes behind and was I willing to wait. Since I took the afternoon off work. I said yes I would wait. I sat in their lobby for an hour. witnessing the Salon manager some through more than once complaining about various people and situations. At 1:55 I went up to the counter and asked when the stylist would be ready and I was told just a few minutes. She came out just before 2 pm and said she was ready. Gave me a cursory apology. after we sat down and looked at the picture she let me know that she was not able to do the colors I requested despite the previous phone conversations as she did not have enough time (not her problem she was an hour late) or color. This was apparently my issue as well even though I had communicated previously. Offered to do just my roots and cut since she did not have the time or product. I asked how much that would cost. I was told over $300 and still no discount or apology. I said no thank you I am not paying that much and not getting what I requested . As I walked out , I spoke with the Salon Manager and expressed my concerns. When I stated I waited an hour. I was told not really, it was only because I came in early. When I mentioned color. She stated I had been called more than once because she needed to source the product since they dont hold it in shop. I responded yes, I spoke with someone 3 times and told them the colors. Her response was that it was I did not communicate clearly enough. Zero empathy or apology from the shop manager or stylist! Please do not take the risk of using this salon. Not worth it in my opinion. I do not remember every having such a poor customer service experience or...
Read moreI have visited the JCPenny for my own hair a few times now, and the gal I worked with was amazing. (I wish I could remember her name, but that was back in Feb. 2015!) I have also brought my young children in for cuts as well.
My son is only 8 months but needed his first haircut and I didn't think twice about where I wanted to bring him. I was so happy with the results, he's my lil man with the cutest fo-hawk.
I've also had my oldest daughter's hair cut & styled here as well. (She's 6.5) Our latest trip was last night to get her back to school haircut. We worked with DeeDee, and she was absolutely amazing. Not only did she treat my daughter with kindness and respect, she also listened to her concerns and gave her hair a quick wash like she had requested. (The water feels too good she says :-P) The cut came out exactly how we had asked, and she even helped with some volume by adding mousse and curling it for her. My little girl was so happy with her new hairstyle. I will definitely be bringing all of my little ones back to DeeDee. And, if she wants to tackle my crazy long head of hair, I'm confident in her abilities to do a great job on color, cut, and style for my own.
For comparison, my middle daughter (almost 4 years come this Nov.) chopped about half of her hair off at home, and we ended up going full bob style for her. I completely regret not taking her to the JCPenny Salon. We hit Great Clips by Fred Meyer.... it was horrible! Yeah, she was sorta difficult in sitting still, but her hairline did not come out even. She's 4! I had to touch it up when we got home...You can't tell me that this person has never done kids' hair before, and really should have had a ton more patience. Whatever I suppose. Lesson learned.
Again, Thank you JCP Salon for being awesome! Oh, and did I mention I paid about $15 MORE at Great Clips?! Yeah,...
Read moreI am still a relatively regular shopper at JCP. This store is reliable in being able to find what you need (and more), and is generally clean. Dropped one star because the store needs some major updates - beige everywhere, ugh! Dropped another because not only is the pricing inconsistent, the sales are silly. If a business says I can buy one item at regular price & get another for a penny, that tells me that their regular prices are overpriced by half.
I do love the Portrait Studio photographers, but I have a feeling JCP encourages them (with commission or otherwise) to overcharge where they can. They are infinitely patient, though, and I never leave with a negative feeling.
The Salon is a source of frustration for me. Not only have I never had a satisfactory cut there (at least 5 over my life), but the pay structure is really misleading. They rank their stylists by the time with JCP, not by their experience doing hair. So someone who's been doing hair for 2 years, but those 2 years have been at Penney's, will make more (and you'll pay more) than someone who's been doing hair 15 years but only 6 months at JCP. So customers think they're getting the more experienced stylist when they shell out the extra $, but they're not.
Overall, I recommend shopping here if you're looking for pretty reasonable prices or any...
