Carbon Mexican Steakhouse — Restaurant in Washington

Very high prices for our area. The atmosphere and service did not seem to reflect those prices. For example, our server was playing some weird punching game with another server, that he didn't seem to be into, and she kept punching him and acting like a boxer. So that was weird, and not something you would expect to see at a high-end restaurant where you're paying $60 for a steak. We got the Doradito appetizer that seemed awesome in the description, but when we got it, it was just bland street tacos. I got a traditional meal, Pollo con Crema, that was filled with mostly onions, very few mushrooms, and a scant trace of chicken. My husband got Discada, which tasted great, but the portion size was so small that it really should've been an appetizer. Overall, not a very...

Worst Mexican place ever. 25 minutes to get water. Over an hour to take our order. Guacamole never showed up. Asked for margarita with no salt, came with salt. Had to ask over and over for chips and salsa and it was a joke. Dinner came out staggered so not everyone could eat together. Food was nothing special. Owner was there but couldn't even see with his own eyes what was really going on. Service was horrible. No idea why this place has so many 5 star reviews. People must love bad service and so-so food. Don't waste your time here unless you have 3 to 4 hours to blow waiting around and being told how they are out of this and that and so busy....clusterf**k. Over priced and more concerned with how the food looks on the plate then the actual food...

Worried. Visited but decided against eating because we would have been the only table there, when nearby restaurants were packed. Eating out is supposed to be fun, I thought?

Called a few weeks later to order takeout and the phone was answered "Hello?" It sounded like a 12-year-old on the line and she almost couldn't answer my question that yes, I had called the restaurant. I named something off the menu and she didn't know if they had it. She struggled to speak English. I asked politely if there was someone else I could talk to. I heard her speak to someone else in Spanish and I heard a man scolding her back. Poor girl.

The menu looks awesome and the decor is pretty cool. Hopefully this restaurant will do well, but I'm not comfortable...
