I want to hand it to the Cinemas staff that were working today! I took a crew of kiddos ages 10-14 to The Strand today for Sunday Funday Family day! I hadn’t been in the cinema since I was 16-17 years old & I am so glad we made this trip today to Skowhegan. What a wonderful experience. This team of young (high school students) showed up and were working their butts off together today. They made a great team and kept the customers happy by apologizing for the long wait and being attentive to everyone’s orders for accuracy and a smooth process. As a key holder/manager of a local business I want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT TOO: Chaz (ticket sales booth), Brayden (Behind the counter), & Emma (behind the counter). We had our first contact with Chaz as we approached the theater to purchase our tickets. He was polite, friendly, personable, quick & efficient. We walked into the theater and there was a large line waiting to purchase popcorn 🍿, drinks, and snacks. I didn’t mind, so I sent the kids to find a seat for us while I waited. Everyone (customers) were ; patient, kind, and understanding THANK YOU ALL YOU FOR being kind, supportive, and patient with these wonderful teens who are working hard to reach goals and help their parents eliviate some costs. Not one time did any of these employees today show any signs of working with limited resources. They all kept bright cheerful positive attitudes. For the amount of pressure these teens were under and how they handled it deserves spotlight!!!! They are ROCKSTARS! Team work makes the dream work! Thank you: Chaz, Brayden and Emma! We look forward to our next trip to the Strand & if your trip isn’t planned yet….highly recommend on the next cloudy drizzly day to have a family day at the Strand! 🖤🍿 P/S: If you know these kids or they are yours…be...
Read moreMy first visit. 6/28/18 1 pm showing for Incredibles 2. I was pleasantly surprised and the seating. very comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the PRICING very reasonable since we were a party of 12. However One person at the concession on a rainy day was not okay. I missed 15 minutes of the movie standing in line for my grandkids. I arrived 30 minutes early. HOWEVER, what saved this review was the young lady working the concession. If memory serves me correctly her name was Abby. She was under a huge amount of stress taking the orders, filling the orders, making the popcorn as she went, filling what ever she ran out of. She had to tell customers she was out of candy and bottle water. YET she handled it like a champ. She smiled, she remained calm, she apologized for the shortages and offered solutions and alternatives. She multi tasked. As a manager my self I am forever looking for young people with this talent and demeanor. If I were from that area I would have given her business card for future employment (I would never try to take someone's employee but I will let a potential future employee know who I am). Because of her this review receives 4 stars, otherwise for the lack of foresight to staff extra for rainy days it would have been 3 stars. I do understand the difficulty of having enough staff these days, but it was still a huge inconvenience for customers to spend so much time in line for popcorn. I hope you do what you can to keep Abby you have a winner...
Read moreThe concessions situation is out of control. 52 minutes into the show and still waiting I've been visiting this location for decades, and struggled whether to post this. In spite of the young folks behind the counter preparing dozens of bags of popcorn and rushing around, the popcorn machine is a significant bottleneck for the operation. I watched a grandmother and her 3 little ladies enter their movie 52 minutes after start time. I was behind them on my 4th unsuccessful attempt to refill my popcorn bucket - on the 5th, I accepted a half refill so the folks behind me could get a half as well. I'm very disappointed, and hoping that management will see this and consider either an equipment change, scheduling change to space out the shows, or possibly use the cold, dark popper that's sitting at the second counter. I want to be clear, the 4 or 5 young folks at the stand were dancing and rushing about, doing their best work with the equipment they have, so this is not their fault. Pic of the cold, lonely second popcorn machine included. I hope to update my review when the concessions issue isn't the overriding memory of my next visit. We bought 9 tickets, with matching concessions for the big experience. I've heard that movie tickets just about cover expenses, and concessions are where the theatres get their chance to make a profit. Let's prioritize the efficiency of this and keep the place open for several...
