The Island Dairy Treat — Restaurant in Skowhegan

I took my son here and they counter lady was extremely rude the whole time while I’m trying to figure what ice cream my 2yr old wanted all while their son Drake stood over the back of the ice cream machine and then proceeds to call another girl over and what looks like talking about me (they’re body language said it all and they’re in the back keep looking at me and talking being very obvious) the customer I ended up just saying I’m alset and the counter girl slammed her window with the same attitude she had. I then msg them on Facebook and ask to get a phone call cause for all I know the Facebook is ran by the kids so the owner Jason calls me and all he has to say about the situation that happened is “we talk about all our customers while we are working and that it was basically okay with the behavior” and when I mentioned his son he went full defensive mode. Owner is very rude, threw an absolute fit about me taking a photo of the menu!(Visible from the public sidewalk BTW). He was instantly hostile, I could barely get a word in as he repeatedly told me taking photos of his business without his permission was harassment. Threatened to call the police if I posted the photos and didnt leave immediately. As someone running a neighboring business, I could never imagine treating a customer that way. To the owner, if you are reading this anything visible from public can be legally photographed without your permission and having your menu online could only serve to help you. No need...

Owner lashed out at my husband for taking photos of the menu. Dude needs to learn that photography is protected under the first ammendment and you cannot threaten to go after people for harassment for taking pics of something visible from the sidewalk. Free advertising by having photos posted online is a good thing, but even if you don't want the free benefit to your business you have NO RIGHT to tell people they can't take photos.
