TL;DR- Be very specific, DO NOT ask for less ice!
Went to Zaap again today for lunch. I hadn't been to skowhegen in a bit so it had been a while. My wife and inlaws hadn't been before so I was excited to show them one of my favorite thai places. Unfortunately they were not as pleased as I had been in the past. Took 10+minutes to get water and we were the only customers there. No big deal. We order our food and the waitress was not very helpful. Questions didn't have answers and we were never prompted to give them our desired spice level. Which lead to all of our food being as bland as you could imagine. Not the worse meal I've had but we live and learn. I probably wouldn't have edited my previous review if it wasn't for the treatment we received when we ordered boba to go on our way back home. We paid over $17 for two boba teas (bubble teas) , one of which we asked for less ice. We didn't realized that mean we would receive a partial filled cup of boba. And when I asked the cashier about it she said boba is expensive and seemed to have a "tough luck" attitude about it. I told her I would have been willing to pay extra for a filled cup of tea if that's what they wanted to do. She replied "I can do that next time!". This just seems like such an unnecessary way to do business. Personally I've never received these results when asking for boba, ice tea or ice coffee with less ice. If I'm paying close to $20 for 2 beverages I would think there wouldn't be an issue. If you do end up going to Zaap make sure you are very specific when your ordering (food or drink) and know that there "bubble tea" is worth it's weight in gold. Act accordingly and best wishes!!!

Read moreI don’t even know what in the world this is- I ordered satay I got slabs of over cooked over turmeric’d chicken - Did I say SLABS??… Satays (I catered I know) are thin pieces of tender meat on a skewer- but not this - there is no hole anywhere no grill marks no grill flavor- this is grotesque and embarrassing but most of all it’s upsetting because we are hungry- this chicken never saw a skewer or even a grill / flat top and they left the chicken an inch thick - have no idea what they did here but they put zero effort - Im too annoyed to bring up their version of peanut sauce its pretty repulsive I haven’t even started on my husband’s meal- it is his Bday btw and he picked this place after we always say we want to try but what he ordered and what he got goodness —— what he got was left over chicken wings it seems that they deboned and battered and fried and put store brand apple sauce on it. It was supposed to be “Orange Chicken” I still can’t believe ppl find it ok to serve up stuff like this and look you in the eye while taking your money. I have never seen my husband NOT eat his plate even if it was kinda bad- that alone ought to tell you something- we are starving and still not...
Read moreWe get food from here a lot. Most is quite good- I love the Pad Thai, it’s my go- to! However the orange chicken is so tough you can’t even chew it. It’s like dry, feels like chewing a piece of wood, seriously bad. We’ve tried it 3 X now & have to give up on as it’s consistently like this. Now the chicken satay is delish, as is the bikini shrimp. Also the curry dishes are quite good & I love the Thai ice tea! So yummy. I’ll stick with what I know is good. I don’t understand why the orange chicken is so darn dried out & tough but it’s a shame as the flavor is quite good but if you can’t chew it, well…
I didn’t call last night as it was late when we got our food & by the time we sat down to eat & realized the chicken was inedible they were closed. So I called today & was told too bad, we can’t give you a credit because it’s the next day. Not cool. We’ve spent a lot here & love their food overall so would've appreciated a credit. Oh well, live & learn & we’ll stick with what we know is good. Just a warning to others- stay away from the orange chicken, unless you plan to just swallow the pieces whole as they’re so tough they can’t really be chewed. Ours is gonna be...
