Furniture Shop — Local services in Slidell

After having our living area repainted (an off white) two years ago, I began shopping for lighter colored furniture. I soon realized that the furniture we purchased after Katrina, being solid wood, was of better quality & was indeed worthy of a facelift. Fortunately, I learned about John Schott, of The Furniture Shoppe. John came to our home to view the area and to get an idea of what we wanted done. He & Cory, his assistant, took several pieces at a time back to the Shoppe. John lightened up each of the darker wooden furniture pieces, including a large entertainment center, a large gold framed mirror, two metal art hanging pieces, two metal framed snack bar chairs, recovering the cushions w/fabric I chose, then treating each piece as a work of art, distressed them all, adding character & charm to each piece. I cannot say enough about the quality of John’s work, his pleasant disposition, timely manner, in spite of extremely hot weather conditions, his willingness to go above and beyond to make sure his clients are satisfied w/the finished project. This gentleman took my mother's 80 year old cedar hope chest which needed a couple of repairs, and took such loving care if it while maintaining all it's character of a long life well lived. My mother was very concerned that the character of the piece would be erased, but John assured her that he would just make it look like it had been well cared for while maintaining all it's character (even though he would have loved to have refinished the piece 😅). He returned the chest today and my mother and I were astounded and ecstatic at how brautiful it looked!! John did exactly what he said he would do....make it look well love and cared for while maintaining all the character. This man obviously loves his work and the pieces he works on. John quickly replied to my phone call. Listened to my needs and scheduled a site visit to provide us an estimate to restore a breakfast room tables finish. John arrived on time shared options and recommendations as well as a price. Within days our table was picked up and the process began. As suggested we visited John's shop, seen table with old finish removed and chose to have the entire table restored to a natural finish without colored stain as when purchased. Again within days John called to schedule a day to deliver the completed table. The oak piece looks better than ever within the space.
