Ashleigh James Salon — Local services in Slippery Rock

I have curly hair and a friend recommended I come to this salon for a Deva Cut. I scheduled my appointment a week in advance. The day of my appointment I drove over an hour to get to the salon. I showed up very early and checked in. There was one lady in front of me. 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment the receptionist told me the hairstylist was running a little behind. (In my mind a little is less than 20 minutes) I waited for another half hour. When I heard the hairstylist come back with her client, (she appeared to be the only one working) I could overhear them talking. An hour into this ladies appointment and they weren't even half way done dying this ladies hair and she still needed a cut. Needless to say there was no possible way I was getting my haircut in any reasonable time. I ended up walking out very frustrated and disappointed. The receptionist was very nice but also no where to be found after she told me the hairstylist was running late. Nothing to occupy my time or make up for the wasted time on my only day off. I will never go back or recommend this...

This place is absolutely amazing. I came in on my birthday to get a major cut (going from halfway down my back to a longish pixie). Ashleigh did exactly what I wanted, and everyone has been telling me how great it looks. Not only that, but my boyfriend had just come from getting a trim at the place down the street, and when he mentioned that they charged him $20, the stylists were shocked, considering it was uneven in a few places and they missed behind the ears. One of the stylists insisted that he sit down and let her fix it, free of charge. It made a big difference! They even let him sit in the massage chair while I got my nails done. I used Ashleigh James for my wedding hair and makeup and was very pleased with both services. The stylists came out to our hotel and were on time and well-prepared to finish everything on time. Ashleigh did an amazing job on my updo, getting it exactly right from just a few pictures during my trial session and nailing it on the wedding day. Desirae did an awesome job on my makeup, taking the time to make sure everything was as I wanted it, and is also very friendly and easy to talk to.

Only subtracting one star because a few of the bridesmaids' updos started to fall out and needed to be touched up before the wedding a few...
